I think that is the problem with most of these "consumer products", most people get to dabble in things that they dont respect or truly understand.
I for one install all my Sonoff's into junction boxes, even if they inside the roof. For example my 2 POW's that I use to monitor my high current points (Gaming PC and Inverter) looks like :

My basic's and RF's went into smaller R30.00 boxes I bought from electrical supplies with sleeves and water seals (Sold seperate). They look like:

Just big enough, with about 5 to 10mm gap on the sides of the Basic. So I know they splash proof and you wont pull the cable from them.
As for overall house + geyer current monitor I would rather order something like tease
NCD's products that I know would be fine in the junction box in the garage. Would be weary installing an Efergy oustide the house or in the roof for that matter.
