They were at war years before settlers sat foot on South African soil. Shaka Zulu sort of united the "clans" by force until he was "interrupted" by the English colonialists and found his demise in Dingane (Dingaan). Interesting stories. Maybe there are an real Historian that can start a thread on this!.

Whats happening is that the radical and moderate parts of the ANC are butting heads. This is the split that will change things.

Where you around in 94 ?

The civil war that was going to happen then was Inkata VS ANC, its always been like that. The internal struggle matches the external struggle.

They got stuck into each other back in the mid 80's here in Natal. I was only a wee, we lived on top of Umbogintwini Hill overlooking the township behind Amanzimtoti. All night, every night, you could hear gun shots and see fires blazing here and there as far as the eye can see. Had something to do with Zulu's and Xhosas I think. Still remember my dad saying they're killing each again my boy. Was quite scary to see and hear. In the morning on the way to school I still remember looking West towards the horizon and it was covered in smoke. This lasted for months and months.

Edit: This was one incident at that time.

On 21 January 1987, 13 people, mostly women and children, were killed when gunmen opened fire with AK47s on the home of UDF activist, Mr Bheki Ntuli, at KwaMakhutha, Amanzimtoti, near Durban. Mr Ntuli was not at home at the time. Twenty people, including the former Minister of Defence, General Magnus Malan, and the IFP leader, Mr MZ Khumalo, were acquitted in the Durban Supreme Court in 1996 for their part in an alleged conspiracy between former state structures and the IFP to carry out the attack. Two former IFP members were granted amnesty for their role in Operation Marion, in which the SADF MI's Special Tasks provided paramilitary training and support to the IFP in a joint effort to combat the revolutionary threat posed by the ANC.

Nelson Mandela, Richard Goldstone, Jimmy Manyi, Gillian Schutte etc all used the phrase " 350 years of oppression" as a simplistic way of blaming everything on the whites (and whipping up anti-white feeling) but a casual glance at any history book will show what rubbish they actually spoke.

For the first nearly 200 years the settlers were mostly content to remain in the western Cape and it was only in the 1830s that the mass exodus started when the Dutch moved into a hinterland that was torn apart by black on black oppression and terror imposed by Shaka, Mozilikaze, Dingaan, Mantatisi and other chiefs. Only after the defeat of Cetshwayo at Ulundi in 1879 did any sort of peace come to the land and black people learned about such colonial evils as the plough, writing, education, decent medicine etc.

Prior to 1652 we have no way of knowing what happened but it is likely that inter tribal warfare was the order of the day - as it still is in much of Africa.
 
Just like in places like Somalia we will one day be at war with ourselves. The cANCer will never step down and when the vote of the people want them out the true war will begin.

Very few people in SA have any idea how far he will go to avoid his day in court and his increasingly firm grip on the key organs of state will ensure that he lives to a ripe old age as president for life.

And to think these things are actually allowed to vote !
They would be more suited to sitting around a fire in the jungle with bones through their noses, or perhaps swinging from branch to branch in the trees.
 
Diepsloot residents vow to vote for EFF

Some Diepsloot residents angered by the killing of two children vowed to vote for the Economic Freedom Fighters in general elections next year.

“In other countries if you kill you get killed, but in South Africa you are awarded with a comfortable life in prison. You eat healthy food and you have a television,” said Reneilwe Mokwena (34) a mother of four yesterday.

Another mother, Darksha Fenyane (36) said the two of them would be voting for the EFF, saying President Jacob Zuma had let them down.

“We voted for him not knowing he is like this. He must not come here because we will hurt him,” said Fenyane.

The bodies of two-year-old Yonelisa Mali and her cousin Zandile Mali, three, were found on Tuesday. They were reported missing at the weekend.

Four men appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court yesterday on charges of rape and murder. The case was postponed to Thursday for the men to apply for Legal Aid.

A fifth man, who was arrested early yesterday morning in Alexandra, would appear in court on Monday.

Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane urged Diepsloot residents to support the family of the two toddlers.

“This is something that must never happen to anybody’s child,” she said outside the family’s home in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.

She said police received information which helped them make the arrests.

“What has happened today [Friday] in Diepsloot is a demonstration that community and police relationships are very important. Their partnership can go a long way.

“Now that the suspect has been arrested, let’s all rally behind the family give them the necessary support. Give the mothers space to grieve the loss of their children so that they can find closure.”

She told reporters the family was thankful and looking forward to a swift prosecution of the perpetrators.

Earlier, residents gathered outside the police station to protest about the murders. They demanded police release the fifth man so they could burn him.

Police were in the area as Economic Freedom Fighters supporters and African National Congress supporters clashed. EFF supporters accused ANC supporters of beating them.

Memories...... spent almost two full years in the Natal 'townships' in the late eighties during my national & short service. Had our hands full on a daily basis keeping the various factions from each others throats.

Zuma has reached the position where vote no longer count.
He now has the clout to personally abolish the constitution and tell the whole of SA to go and F### itself.
Both SAPS and SANDF are his personal army of thugs and he can do whatever he likes.
