COURT DISMISSES EFF CASE

The High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday dismissed an application by the Economic Freedom Fighters for an interdict relating to the payment of a deposit to the Independent Electoral Commission.

Judge Joseph Raulinga said he was putting final touches to his ruling and only read out his brief order in court.

"The matter is not urgent. The application is dismissed with costs, and the applicant is ordered to pay the costs of a postponement of the 4th of March," he said.

Raulinga said his judgment would be ready on Wednesday.

"The judgment is ready but I still have to cross the Ts and dot the Is."

The party took President Jacob Zuma, Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor, and the IEC to court.

Political parties are required to pay a deposit of more than R600,000 --R45,000 per province, and R200,000 to contest the polls nationally. The EFF was seeking to have this requirement removed or greatly reduced.

Guys, guys. We need the EFF to water down the ANC. What do you say we whip our hat around and fund them?
R200 000 and R45 000 for Gauteng.
R245 000?
We can do that.
Then send Malema the cheque signed 'the white guys'.

I've got 50 cents for the fat ****. Who'se in?

:D

Ya, I must admit I was quite keen to see what percentage of the voting population wants to take all our schit from us and then carry on crying about apartheid until the end of eternity.

This one is going straight to the Constitutional Court, and I suspect EFF will win it.

What is not mentioned is that this is a DEPOSIT they need to pay. They get refunded if they win at least 1 seat.

Don't come here with any of your realism tendencies..

They're not welcome! Bloody Agent!

MALEMA SLAMS 'CAPITALIST COURT'

South African courts are being used to rubberstamp decisions of capitalists, Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema said on Tuesday.

"They must be ashamed, and shame on the justice system of South Africa," said Malema outside the High Court in Pretoria.

"The law should always protect the weak and the poor but the South African law is for the rich. If you don't have money, the law won't protect you."

Malema arrived at the court shortly after Judge Joseph Raulinga dismissed his party's application for an interdict relating to the payment of a deposit to the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC).

Raulinga said he was putting final touches to his ruling and only read out his brief order in court on Tuesday.

"The matter is not urgent. The application is dismissed with costs, and the applicant is ordered to pay the costs of a postponement of the 4th of March," he said.

Raulinga said his judgment would be ready on Wednesday.

"Costs in this case include the costs attended in the payment of two counsel [for the IEC]. The judgment is ready but I still have to cross the Ts and dot the Is."

The IEC set a deadline of March 12 for the submission of parties' candidate lists and the payment of the deposits required to contest the elections.

*gets popcorn*

Will the EFF pay by the end of tomorrow.. or will there be more stories about ridiculous deadlines and imperialistic tendencies running the country and denying the poor the right to vote for who they want etc etc.

I'd rather have their supporters not vote at all.

So let me get this right: They don't have enough money to pay for their party to participate in the elections, but they have enough money to take this all the way to the constitutional court?

Come now, you know the answer to that already :D
