eHome Affairs first ID through Std Bank

Can anyone help? There is no fee payable for first ID. Does this method of applying through bank still work even though zero is payable? Can I still make an appointment at Standard Bank who I bank with, for my son’s first ID? And the eHome Affairs website says no slots available?
 
It should be fine via ehomeafffairs. Obviously the id number from their birth certificate.
 
Ah before i forget. Fill in the form then manually capture the date past the calendar. The calendar says full for that slot so try the week thereafter by manually putting in the date.

Its a glitch but it will work. If that week is full then the week thereafter.
 
No, I tried today. It seems they cannot process the payment on my FNB, Standard or Nedbank accounts. I am able to skip the step, make an appointment with a bank, but then it does not give me a barcoded appointment confirmation. Home Affairs system is not working, so best is to visit Home Affairs and get things done there. Sometimes, if you are lucky, it could take 8 hours to do an ID Application, else it could take up to 4 days.
 
I'm trying to find out if I can apply and collect a smart ID for my Fiance even though she doesn't bank with FNB and I do. Or if I can do it on her behalf.

Home affairs in KZN is a f*cking stuff up of note.

Does anybody know?

Yes, you can. Home Affairs do not care where the applicant banks. Just as long as the payment is made online. I have previously applied to get identity documents and passports from Nedbank. But, I banked with FNB. I made the online payment, approved it in FNB and then just went to Nedbank to do biometrics and later collected the documents.

Just yesterday applied for an identity documents but made a booking at Absa. Did the payment via FNB online. No issues. Just came back from biometrics at Absa.

What did you need to show the bank for them to A.) let you in and B.) take biometrics?

I was unable to find or print the barcoded application confirmation. They did send me an email confirmation. I printed the email confirmation and visited the bank. They did not even look at it. They already had a list with appointments and my daughters' name and ID Number was on it. Just took her birth certificate and my own ID Document.

Normally, when you complete the process, there will be an Appoint Confirmation link on your application main page which you can download. I did not get this option yesterday.

Okay so new problem, managed to get as far as the bookings but the next available booking is 9th March.

Excuse me but hoooooo leeeee fukkkkkkk that's bullshit, We have a flight we need to catch sooner than that and have been struggling for over 8 months now.

Is there no way to get an earlier visit?
 
Just decided to tank it and make the booking. How the hell do you get the barcode to print?

If its not on the application dashboard, you can't get it. Print the email confirmation sent to you and take it along. I did this, because I too did not get to download the barcoded appointment confirmation. The bank did not even look at it. They had a printed list with all the appointments for the day and the information was captured on it already.

If it was anything like my experience then they don't even check your receipt as its all captured on the system. The official at Std Bank even welcomed me by name when I walked in saying that he was expecting me. Very friendly.
 
Working well for me! (same experience as going to local offices....)

I'm thinking of just walking in before the date and seeing if they will give us a chance. Booked for the 11th March and honestly its just too far away and we have flights that we need to take.

Think there is a chance?

I am not sure. This is the private sector. Not sure if they will help if your name is not on the list of appointments for the day. But, take a chance, walk in tomorrow morning with your printout and then tell them you thought the appointment was for February. You did not see March. The best thing that could happen is they could perhaps help you. Worst is, they can tell you to go to HA or come back in March.

Not a bad plan, worth a shot. Honestly, I don't know why they have to book out a whole hour at a time. Just do a 30-minute slot. Would half the time. Or better yet, let banks handle all the home affairs stuff themselves instead of just having representatives there...

I agree, they should take over all HA functions.

The next question is how the hell do you amend your driver's license? Most of the gov sites I find for it are offline...
