So when the Afrikaners, who formed the majority of the National Party came into power how many street and town names did they change? Maybe a couple of street names and one place name - Robertson Heights was renamed Voortrekkerhoogte.
Bear in mind that they were also treated as dirt during the Boer War and taunted thereafter so they to arguably, had good reason to rid the country of pommie names. But they didn't! They got on with life and named new streets and towns and not waste money on stupid renaming of existing streets.

I've no objection if there was evidence of a town with roads and permanent dwellings and the colonialists (Settlers) changed the name of that "village" to Port Elizabeth that, that should qualify for a name change. But there was fcukal there when the settlers arrived.
