ELAN PCMCIA and Linux

Hey cyberbob,

Burn it ! :) or ask them to swap it for one that works better - maybe the VMC is trying something that it doesn't like, but I would really point that out as the problem !

Laterz !!! :)

I didn't buy it from Vodacom, I contacted them, got a price of R299 for the card, they said it would take about 2-3 weeks, so I decided to "shop" around, then I phoned them back a couple of days later, they told me it was now R499 ... told them to "scr#w" it, bought it from Sybaritic ... anyway, it works fine in my laptop under linux, but for some reason just will not work in linux with this card (works in windows though).

btw ... the card is Addonics ADPCICB2 PCMCIA/CARBUS to PCI Adapter ... I'm about ready to burn it :(

oh well,

thanx for all your input anyway! maybe I shall just wait for those 3G routers to come out :D

cyberbob, won't you PM me with the shop details who tried to charge to R499.

Also, it's worth to remember that a PCI->PCMCIA adapter is a bit of a weird animal and not all work well everywhere. The two we tested and know works under both windows and linux are the Elan Cards and also cards based on the Ricoh chipset.
