Elden Ring

Between this and returnal I don't really know which one makes me more pissed off.

Don't think I will be playing any soul like, rogue like games ever again after these two.

I will rather play doom eternal on nightmare that's much easier for me.
Fair. I on the other hand love doom but don't want to Play ancient gods again

I am really finding the DLC very different from the base in a good way as I have numerous weapons to fight different mobs. The base you basically do one weapon and just finish the game.

I have all fully upgraded:
- Bloodhound fang - pure weapon damage, good bleed and stance damage - used for tactical boss fights.
- Nagakiba with double slash keen - great at killing through dungeons and good against npc enemies.
- Dual bandits curved swords with bloody slash - good against big bosses where you just do jump attacks (4 jump attacks kill elden beast)
- Dragons-hunters great Kitana - kills dragons fast, the charged R2 fully buffed and hitting a dragons head does 5k damage.
- Sacred relic sword - insane against anything weak to holy, death birds die in like 3-8 waves.

I have got but don't really use:
Death knights twin axes - cool animations but I keep spinning off of ledges and dieing.
Beast claws - they kinda suck and was hoping they would be insane.

Too dumb to play with but might need for final boss:
Bloodfiends arm: 204 blood build up with a charged r2 with 60 arcane, add the extra blood build up with a flask and you get over 300. Basically if it can bleed it will bleed in 1-2 hits. Adding to that it does 53 stance damage which is the most in the game and the weapon can be farmed in the first area. Seriously WTF.

I upgraded about 4 I use. But always default to cold starfists for bosses. It's such a broken weapon for poise breaks and frost

For anyone battling use this build

Tried it earlier, upgraded bottle to 25, had 25 faith and 80 dex which is very unoptimised. Then went and killed the head fire guy which has 100k life In a few sprays. I also killed the rhino guy in 2 sprays.

Pretty sure this will be nerfed soon.

lol Kai Cenat (popular streamer) took over 70hrs and 1000 deaths just to beat the final DLC boss. But he did it, impressive perseverance I must say.

I beat the tree sentinel and am starting to gain momentum now. I ended up in siofra's river which is way above my level but it made for fast levelling as the mobs are not that difficult. I made sure I avoided the boss though. Margit soon

I watch like 2 streamers and thats only recently to learn challenge running. So i dont care about KAI or whoever. BUT i find it hilarious how people hate on Kai, the dude had 150k people watching him, its only a good thing for fromsoftware and keeping these games relevant and invested in. respect where its due

Tree sentinal is probably harder than margit in some ways lol. you will be fine. siofra isnt that highly scaled, but i would finish all of liurnia and weeping before progressing too far beyond margit. but honestly there's no wrong choices. just know if a boss is way to OP. leave it for later.

There's plenty of wrong choices. Venture too far and you ****up quests you didn't even knew existed.

However, that's something to keep in mind for NG+ runs. Just explore as you please on your first run.

Agreed. just have a blast first playthrough. then second playthrough you can research, get tips and stuff to platinum. then do a level 1 run

The only thing I'm wary of is wasting resources on a weapon that could be replaced anytime soon. Unless there a **** ton of stones they give you so you can keep changing your build?

At endgame you can buy them if you have the Bell Bearings but you cannot buy Ancients (last level upgrades). Keyword = "endgame".

You would need to NG+ like 20 times to fully upgrade every item in the base game.

Just use what feels right for you. Simply changing a weapon in a Souls game changes the whole game. That said it's generally a good idea to know what you want to be doing, and using. Don't be afraid to look things up.

Personally I'm a simple man and always stick to katanas for the bleed and estocs for the stagger (and tight indoor combat - katanas will bounce off walls). Which is why I picked Samurai when I first played Elden Ring. Simply to start with a katana. As example.

so stone anxiety is a real thing. you do pick up bell bearings which allows you to buy stones (there's a few that covers a different range). you can get your first bell bearings pretty quickly. this helps alot.

If you have questions, or weapons you enjoy, i can nudge you. or say "yes you wont regret it" etc.

You get bell pickers bearings later which allows you to buy smithing stones 1-8 and somber smithing 1-8. They are tough to get.

I feel like ashes of war can also make you change the build.

Hmm guess its time to pick this up again. I Played casually got to the dragon in crumbling farum Azula and then they nerfed Rivers of Blood and for some reason I didn't play again.

Rivers of Blood was still potent in PVE after that it has the best mid-ranged AOE out of all katanas I rocked it all the way though into DLC.

Now using the Starlined Sword. It's blood loss buildup is far less than the Rivers of Blood.

@RunningFromFat I highly recommend getting the bloodhound fang which you can get in the first 5-10 mins of playing the game, very begonner friendly. You use an r2 attack and follow it up with an l2.

You can use this all the way into the dlc.

Another option is grabbing a glintstone staff dropped by a mob also with 5 mins of playing the game which does significant more damage then anything early. Magic is also very strong in the base game but far more difficult then just using one weapon.
