Elden Ring

I haven’t played for a couple of days - still exploring the Capital City.

Man, it feels so poignant in there with those things that look like frosty the snowman blowing those flutes at the Erdtree - almost feel bad killing them.

The music is incredible

Finished the DLC. What a fantastic game and DLC. Sad that its over for me. Hopefully we get another souls game soon!

Radahn was surprisingly easy.

That is just the start now do the game again with Faith, Dex, Strength the entire game changes.

If you haven't INT spellcaster is the most unique play style I have tried so far but just started a faith build this morning and so far it's crushing.

Strength was by far the easiest I have done.

Bruh I sucked as INT, everything basically one hit killed me.
I had to lure the the tree sentinels to places where I could hide and spam them with glint

Just finished Raya Lucaria. Bit of a nothing area and boss.

Possibly over-leveled - Level 60 @ 36 hours with a +8 Uchigatana

I am going to get a forced 2 week break when I go on euro trip next week. Alleviate a bit of that “same same fatigue” that can sometimes happen in games at like 50 hours

I carry around a katana with holy ash.
It makes the undead easier to handle.

The discoverability in this game is just amazing.

Finally managed to work out how to get to Volcano Manor (lol, once you know it's easy but figuring it out took me way longer than it should have - /shakes fist at visiting areas at night - I missed a ladder in the dark).

While in Volcano Manor, I noticed a door that can't be opened, went poking around, found an illusory wall that eventually led me to a new underground area that I had not heard of / read about anywhere* (Lost Prison or something), and am now busy exploring that :) - I love areas that have rooftops to explore.

* I used a guide for the early game 'cos I just found it too hard to gear up properly as a mage in the early game. Since hitting Altus, I only use a guide for specific hints if I'm really really stuck

Level 70-something, currently in Caelid after clearing Lernia.

I kind of hate this area already. Just the vibe is off :unsure:Stepping out into Limgrave (and Lernia from Stormvale) was an event. This is just meh

Did I mention that I absolutely love this game :giggle:

Ha ha ha - Caelid is just nasty…it’s like Australia, everything that moves kills you, and kills you quick. Even the stuff that doesn’t move (rot and poison swamp areas) kill you.

Taking a bit of a break before I move on from the Capital and Volcano Manor (and I haven’t even touched the sewers in the Capital).

70 hours, level 101, about 30% (I would guess) through Altus Plateau (cleared Limgrave, Lernia, Caelid including Radaan, Soifra River) and I only just discovered that you can double sip flask…

Oh, and the Valiant Gargoyles in Nokron City are complete a-holes, they are currently blocking me from finishing that area

What build are you using and are you using spirit summons?

Also those gargoyles are weak to holy damage, so sacred blade ash of war near Marikas church or if you feel like farming get some silver pickled fowl foot and farm the halo scythe from the cleanrot knights in the blood rot river in caelid.

Also halo scythe makes the game so easy against everything but the avatars.

Pure Dex, with enough FAT/INT/ARC to cast BloodFlame Blade and Flame Cleanse Me

Uchigatana +16 I think, and then a Mace +14 for "strike" damage (they are weak/less resistant to strike damage), both with Keen Affinity

I use the wolves spirit ashes

I'll probably beat them once I find another Smithing Stone 5, so I can upgrade the Mace again. The damage increase quite a lot at these levels with DEX + Keen

You can try get golden vow 15% damage increase and howl of shabiri for an extra 25% damage. Use those as your two buffs with bloody flame blade.

Winged sword insignia for extra damage with successive attacks, ritual sword talisman for an 10% extra damage both are easy to get where you are in the game.

A bit later you have a choice in milicents quest line where you can get millicents prosthesis or rotten winged sword insignia. Rotten wing doesn't stack with winged sword so choose the prothesis. I would google that part it's very confusing. Last you want the shard of Alexander but that is very late game.

Dump the wolves spirit ash it's really kak, anything is better I recommend mimic, black knife tish or dung eater. Those are really strong. Let me know how the black knife tish fight goes that thing must have killed me more than any boss in the game.

Using one sword two handed give a slight boost to damage based off of your strength. Triangle + r1 to go two handed. I personally would not power stance mace + katana because with that long sword and short mace you will miss lots of attacks.

As a backup weapon get the blood hounds fang it uses somber stones so it's easy to upgrade. Also fits your build really well use an r2 followed up with a l1. When running dex it is probably the most fun weapon to use but there are other fun ones like star fists, dual bandits curved swords with jumping attacks and probably the most unique pure dex weapon is the bolt of grandsax.

Nice reply, thanks

I 2-hand a single weapon 99% of the time, mostly use a shield only with those multi-arm guys that shoot arrows, and sometimes just to guard counter for fun
I'm currently using claw insignia (I jump attack a lot), green turtle and radagons soreseal

The wolves spririt ashes I use because they are kak, but sometimes like them taking some aggro
