Elder Scrolls Online Beta - Client

After playing the beta I would not touch this with a 30 foot pole.

No way in hell I am paying that much for a game plus subscription fee each month (which will be taxed from the 1st April) to essentially play a co-op single player game.

ESO-client probably the largest I have ever downloaded, after the Beta I moved the game to a SSD and wanted to check if it would work, it did, but .... oh horror's it now wants to download the client again ...!! another 21+gig. Thing is I have it on digital pre-order and am now wondering if there is going to be yet another demand to download. I read somewhere that when the game opens we would be able to use the purchased game-key, this doesnt look like it now. Anyone have any idea's... there is just no way i can d/l this again I am using 8ta :-(

Is the beta still working? I tried logging in on Monday and it said the beta isn’t running anymore?

Nope the Beta is not currently running. I moved my Beta install to a SSD and wanted to check if it would load the launcher, it did but now wants to download ESO-Beta-EU, another 21g, I thought I
missed something so I tried the original Beta install and got the same results.

I dont have the files so you will have to decode this advice into the files that you see in front of you.

With all of these client downloads, they have a content type library and a patch type library. What you need to do if you move it and it tries to download everything again, is to find out the patch files and back them up to a different location. Then remove their names from the source directory.
After that if you fire up the launcher it will try to download the files. You then close the launcher and open the directory again, see which file is new and find the corresponding file in the backup directory. Copy it in and replace the small source file with the completed one. Fire up the launcher and rinse and repeat. What it does in theory is check the progress of the file and find that it is complete, so it will skip it and move onto the next one.

Another possibility is that you moved it with cut and paste, without changing directories in the file's install location. So when you fire up the launcher, it is trying to check the existence of the files in your old location, not the new. One way to solve this might be to re-download the client installer, go through the wizard process and select a location on your SSD. Then fire up the installer and once it reaches patching progress. Close it down and copy your game files into the new location. Firing it up again should allow it to recognize the files and not need to patch anything.

It may take some time, and it doesn't always work, but it may save you 21GB of data if the restriction is a concern.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they've announced there won't be an open beta.

Thanks so much will give this a go

Thank you for this, yes all sorted, seems something corrupted during my move, the directories had 29.xgig so I knew the data was all there, downloaded the launcher and installed it into the same dir, ran it and voila... works like a charm thank you again.
