Hi all,

On Tuesday and on election day, I got a total of 3 SMSes - all from the DA.

It's early, so there are not a lot of people in to work yet, but a small poll amongst my family, my one friend and one colleague today - so far - reveal that all of them got DA SMSes.

Despite hearing/reading about SMSes from the ANC, none of us received any.

All of us are "White".

Now, without turning this into another race war, does the same ring true for all of you?

3 from the DA, 1 from the ANC in the past 2 weeks or so. I worry about the lack of rationality one must exhibit for an SMS to sway one's vote, though.

I received the 3x DA SMS's yesterday, plus two DA telephone calls in the two weeks prior to the election.

I did receive an ANC SMS yesterday - shortly after 5am, when I was still in dreamland - thus seriously reducing the odds of my voting ANC :)

You can say the same about street posters!

I got 3 from Helen Zille herself - it said so at the end. None from any other party though. I assume they get phone details from the same sources as the banks, mobile operators and other spammers. If only they put that money to better use.

To an extent, sure. At least the election posters also serve the secondary function of showing you what the mug of the oke you're voting for looks like. And they can be used to get konkas and braais going for months after. :p

Interesting stuff.

Basically there are 3 groups of people. Those that will vote for you no matter what, those that won't vote for you no matter what, and the rest. You concentrate on the 'rest'. The rest consists of the apathetic and the undecided. What you want to do is swing the undecided and get those apathetics that may support you to turn up.

Now - I didn't get an SMS from the ANC. Does this mean that they are certain that I would never vote for them no matter what? Or that I am a lazy whitie so rather let me play golf than vote for the Madam?

So the ANC had a ninja turtle or a really scary cross between Raggedy Ann and Liewe Heksie in my ward?

3 from the DA, reminding me to vote DA. 1 the day before elections and the 2 on the day of elections.

For all you who got a SMS from the DA, be grateful! I only got a "Please Call Me" from the ANC

From DA, 3 sms's 1 Phone call yesterday. plus about 3 sms's and 1 call in the past month.

Good thing for the DA, this is not America. All their sms's were from international numbers. Why didn't they use SA providers? :D

I'm white, 2 from the ANC.

But no, wasn't enough to convince me vote for them. Or enough to make me spoil my vote, like some other idiot did...
