How much does this cost generally?

I know there's the per meter - but what about the electronics and installation a swell? I've got an issue with cats in my complex and I'm contemplating putting the flat type electric fencing (or close strands of wire) purely to keep them out.

Also - a legal restriction on the height at all?

How long is a length of wire?
Prices can vary from R20/metre to R100/metre all inclusive.
You even get DIY kits.

Put up my own fence a few years back.

Ended up costing me just over R2K including generator and all (total length of fence is about 160 meters, 5 strand).

My security company installed a 5 strand fence around my entire property. With (a decent) energizer, it was around 2k. But that was around 6 years ago. No idea what the costs would be now.

Sorry but after reading the heading I was thinking to myself, "The sport already seems pretty dangerous, this would be insane."

I'm out of here

Works well to keep cats in or out. In my case I wanted mine to stay inside the property and to keep others from coming onto my property. In the past six years there's been three incidents where they came in, but they never come back ;)

We installed fencing around our complex about a year or so ago. Energizer was R1850 and R50/m 4 strand 1.2mm wire. Other optional extras were GSM SMS module (R1499) coupler to alarm system (R1199). Prices ex VAT.

If you are in CPT I can give you a ref for the guy that did our fencing. Drop me a PM.

Eish,

The "coupler" to my alarm system cost me R200 (it's just a 12v to 12v relay).

4Joule Energiser was R800

The alarm bit could possibly have been a whole system and not just the coupler.

Don't know the specs of the Energiser, I can go check the model if someone is interested.

Sort of related, do you need your neighbours permission - or how does it work with a shared boundary wall.

I think as long as it's upright or angled in rather than over to their side of the property and you mount everything on your side of the wall, there is nothing they can do.

It is nice however to at least let them know ;)

You do need your neighbours permission if you put it on the top of the boundary wall...

I'm currently planning on redoing my electric fence, and dropping one of the strands to just below the wall so that if some tries to climb over they'll get a blast...
