Electronic Ceiling Fan Switch

I want to replace the four state pull chain switch in my ceiling fan (this is the switch that is used to control the speed of the fan) with an electronically controlled equivalent. I would like to trigger switch's state change with a bell press type of button. i.e., each press of the bell press button will advance the electronic fan switch to its next output.

I see that you can get ceiling fan remote control kits that do a similar thing, however, these are controlled via a wireless remote control. I want to be able to control the speed of the fan via a bell press type of button mounted on the wall.

Does anyone know if such an electronic switch exists, and if so, what is it called?
 
Like said above one of those controllers will be the easiest. For the button type you will need some sort of microcontroller to switch relays.
 
Thanks. The problem is that the existing switches are from the CBI Stainless Steel range (e.g., 2 Lever 2-Way Light Switch). As far as I am aware, they don't make fan controllers in that range, and I'd like to keep the switch style consistent.
 
Just put that remote on the wall somewhere, and operate with it.

or move those wires of the switch to a wall plug and switch from the wall plug, 4 wires all the way back to the wall plug. so basically , extend your switch
 
As far as I know, they do some weird stuff with multiple field coils on some. Something like slow = 2 coils in serials, medium = 1 coil, fast, two coils in parallel. Test the switch logic before going too far down this road to only find you've been wrong in assumptions of what you're looking for.
