Elitehost down?

I don't think it works that way... They would need to clarify, because clients should really be getting their own CF. Here's a snapshot of everything dnsdumpster knows about cp05:

From that, one can tell that it wouldn't support direct CF/DNS links. I don't know so much about how all that kinda stuff works, so again, they would need to clarify.
@Elitehost we need answers, how are you going to solve this.

What if it happens again, what steps are you going to put in place?

Dont really hear about other host with this issue.

edit: still up & down like crazy. my uptimerobot app is going crazy

@Elitehost:

This is starting to get out of hand now.

The level of service being received is starting to be pretty much in line with that of Afrihost, which many of us here know is far from acceptable. The last time this happened (March of last year, if I recall correctly), updates were much more frequent and detailed. Now we're just getting vague updates about attacks, with no technical explanation as to the complexity and type of attack the network is being hit with and what is being done to mitigate/resolve.

The status page hasn't been updated since 13:51, where it currently states that most of the network is stabilised, excepting for rs04. Meanwhile, I'm still unable to connect to anything on cp05 and sh02, and I'm receiving CF errors (mostly regarding SSL handshakes) when trying to log into the client area. Opening a ticket would be of no use to me as it seems that system is also intermittent due to the attacks (perhaps you need a secondary support system on a third-party host, like you do with your status page?)

I really do get that your uptime has been great, for the most part, and I haven't had any major issues since migrating over to you. However, looking at the level of service being provided on public channels, I wonder if I need to start making reconsiderations. As a shared-hosting client, I expect there to be a problem every once in a while, but I certainly don't expect service-levels like this. R35 or not, it just isn't right.

Please can we have some detailed feedback?

+1

We are still experiencing a network outage on the server rs04 with the DDOS attack ongoing.

We are working closely with our network engineers to restore services.

Unfortunately given the nature and volume of the attack, we don't have an ETA at this stage.

Update from Elitehost:

scrn_status.elitehost.co.za-2017-04-18-20-54-09.png

Though, I still can't access cp05 and sh02. Don't have sites on other servers, so can't tell. (Wish they used their old status page with all the tech details.)

Once again our deepest apologies for the disruptions to services.

Ongoing DoS traffic continues to affect our network. The shared IP for the server: rs04-pta.za-dns.com is still being blocked locally and internationally.

We are also experiencing international connectivity issues affecting our shared and certain VPS servers.
We are working with network engineers to alleviate this issue and get all services restored.

A full report will be sent out once the network has been stabilised. We thank all our clients for their continued patience and understanding.

2:15AM and things appear to STILL be down. This is becoming unacceptable. My clients are going insane and can't understand how it can take this long. They are complaining this is resulting in loss of business.

This is totally unacceptable; it is now Wed. 03h24 and the service on rs04 is STILL offline. What do I tell my clients at start of business in the morning? "Sorry Guys, I know it is very inconvenient and that you are losing business, but I cannot give you an estimated repair time..."???
Furthermore, I cannot even log in so that I can send a further query. EH - can you not migrate all my services to a different server.
This is no longer an inconvenience or even a problem, it is now an emergency!

Completely agree. I'm not entirely sure what to do. My clients are screaming at me and there's not much as a reseller I can do. Emails are also not functioning. This is causing a MAJOR issue.

Can't even login to the client area? I almost feel bad for Elitehost, because generally they are good, but this is definitely going to result in A LOT of lost business for them.

The issues with the client area have been resolved. We are unfortunately still struggling to get the IP on rs04-pta.za-dns.com restored.

We hope to get services restored shortly, apologies for the inconvenience.

cp05 and sh02 appear to be fine now, as well as the client area.

Elitehost, please can we have the old status page back?

WTF is going on? WHY DON'T WE GET ANY UPDATES?

@ JASON - ANSWER YOUR CLIENTS - THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WE NEED UPDATES.

WE ARE MOVING FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM ELITEHOST. SORRY YOU GUYS ARE MESSING UP

Our deepest apologies for the inconvenience caused.

We are still struggling to get the IP on rs04-pta.za-dns.com restored.
We hope to get it restored shortly and will keep you updated with the progress.
