i found the feature this week to allow me to check emails on my samsung e250. what settings do i put in my phone to check this. is it my telkomsa settings or what?

please help thanks.

I would guess you need your pop3 server's address as well as your username and password. If you want to send mail, you need the smtp server's address.

Probably something like pop3.telkomsa.net and smtp.telkomsa.net or mail.telkomsa.net

Cool. Post back to say which settings you used, and what servers you used so that others can benefit from this too.

Thanks

smtp won't be telkomsa.net, it depends on your service provider. ie smtp.vodacom.co.za etc

i am on INCREDIMAIL and am using smtp settings as this was the only setting i could use as i was having problems with my other settings. as i dont know anything about settings and stuff i just followed info found on the forum, and the first error code i got was a DNS ERROR and so i played with the settings as found in INCREDIMAIL and now if i check i get NO EMAIL ON SERVER although there is in my inbox. i use the trial and error system in otherwords try something new all the time till it works.

I figured he's on telkomsa

yes, he is. but if he is accessing it from his mobile the smtp wont be the same.

what i am trying to find is someone who has the same phone and uses the email feature on it.

ok i can now check emails on my phone, while at work that are on my pc at homebut i cannot reply to them or send an email. i will carry on till i have it sorted.

I am using my telkomsa pop3 and smtp settings, and it works perfectly.
pop3.telkomsa.net
smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net
user the same username and password as telkom supplied.

As Brawler said, your smtp settings on the phone have to be the same as your service provider - so if your phone is on cellc then your smtp must be mail.cmobile.co.za - you might want to load Opera Mini (web browser for mobiles) that way you can check and reply to emails on line (webmail) it cost a fraction that way, last thing you want is paying out for spam, also its a nice browser - www.operamini.com still think the older version 3 is better

If you're receiving emails it means your POP3 settings are correct. To send emails from your phone you need to specify the SMTP server available from your network:
MTN: mail.mtn.co.za
CellC: mail.cmobile.co.za
VodaC: smtp.vodacom.co.za

The reason you can't use the TelkomSA smtp is because when using your phone you don't have access to it since you are using another connection/ISP. Leave the default values for port numbers in your settings - they should be fine.

You maybe have a setting on the phone where you can specify that the email client only downloads email headers. That way you use almost no data and only open the emails that are urgent to you.

I am trying to set up my friends E250 for email, I have all the mail settings (mweb) and they work on my phone (ericsson) but when I try to get the mail is says I must set up a profile first. Any ideas?

i have yet to figure out how to set up the email thingy on my phones, at the moment i use my telkom settings so i can read my mails on my phone but have not figured out how tp reply yet.

Email profiles on SGH-E250

All my settings are correct on my e250, but the email profile isn't. It needs an "APN" and "DNS1" and "DNS2" settings, wat to do?

You maybe having a problem sending emails from you handset due to the incorrect SMTP setting/server.

As you can receive, so your POP3 is correct...
