Email rejected due to poor MTA

smtp.isdsl.net is filled in my smart host section, but it does not have any authentication enabled to the above mail server.

@ Brandon: are you saying that all dynamic IP's will be blacklisted, but it is irrelevant since the mail gets sent to isdsl.net and got bounced there? Therefore my IP being blacklisted isnt an issue? or should I be worried about it?

In this case it is smtp06.isdsl.net or 196.26.208.199 that needs investigating.

Then clearly a case for the ISP...

@jprheeder - do you have any afrihost/saix adsl accounts? You can use those ADSL accounts to authenticate/relay your emails through another server.

edit :: A long while ago we had our mail server on a Diginet line. The ISP then changed their IP/subnet allocation, and we got a range of IP's assigned as dial-up IP's on all blacklist agencies.

Lovely instant blacklisting The CEO wasn't happy and he took matters into his own hands, and we got issued a new subnet quickly

Correct, this is an issue with the isdsl MTA cluster & has nothing to do with your ip.
You are an isdsl user logged onto their network, no further authentication is required to use their smtp relay.

As mentioned by The_Librarian, if you have another ISPs account to test with (obviously one not reselling IS) your mail should go out without an issue; just remember to update your smtp relay settings accordingly.

Recommend you consider getting adsl with static IP's. Life is better when you have full control. Dynamic may be cheaper, but consider when your dsl goes down & the ip last updated to your ddns host gets assigned to somebody else who is also hosting a mail server. All your mail will get either bounced or possibly received with a catch-all email account. Any employees accessing mail externally could also end up trying to communicate with some other server.
