hi guys im am just not having any joy with telkom *******s witj my email setup.
i am using vista business with windows mail and my current email address is
*****@telkomsa.net but now i registered a domain and i want my windows mail configured to receive emails from [email protected]. so people can start sending my emails to [email protected] and not ****@telkomsa.net
please help as these *******s at telkom are useless they dont even know themselves hot to do that:mad:

Why did you went with Telkom for hosting?

There's a ton of other companies who know what they're doing, and will do it better than useless Telkom can.

use Google Mail. Its like Gmail, but lets you use your own domain, and its free.

You signup using Google Apps and then configure your domain. You do need to know about creating DNS entries however to make it work.

im confused, where does he mention Telkom hosting? telkom is his ISP? and it doesnt matter, he can use any of the 999m available mail/web/dns hosting companies out there?

YOu enter the email details in your email clilent on your PC - it has nothing to do with Win7.
it's very easy. Set up a new account in Windows Mail using the info provided by the company hosting your pop and smtp email servers. You'll need the following info:
- your log-in username and password (typically your email address and password).
- name of pop server - often something like pop.mydomain.co.za
- name of smtp server - often something like smtp.mydomain.co.za. If your smtp server requires authenticatio (usually smae as your email/password), make sure this is option is ticked.
All should work fine.

Rexter, where are you bud?

You want decent hosting of email use Google Mail as already stated in this thread.

It's relatively easy to setup, I could give you a hand if you want.

You would have to contact the hosting provider and get the info from them with regards to your POP3 settings, your SMTP settings would no change.
