Anyone have any cheap thoughts on this ie not static address, change ISP etc:
I need to forward all mail from one user to another remote, email address.
They have their own mailserver onsite with Afrihost for their DSL bandwidth.
Their server, when it forwards, doesn’t mess much with the headers except change the RCPT TO: <address> to the forwarding address and place it back in the outgoing queue, making it look like it came from the original sender.
Problem is a lot of addresses fail. Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo etc
Those PITA IS smtp servers simply refuse to relay if MAIL FROM: contains those domains - even though the senders ip is from their own darn ip address pool & authenticated smtp session nogal!
What I could do is send/forward directly to the MX of the remote host.
But all the ip’s assigned are blacklisted by IS on purpose so the remote host says cheers.
I can’t ask the receiving server to white list the ip either since it’s dynamic.
I got all excited authenticating on Gmails smtp server until I tried to reply to a message only to find that although the senders name was right, the address had been replaced by the gmail.com address of the account I was using – effectively replying to myself lol.
I looked at a few smtp relay servers that don’t cost too much – but they are all address based (ie assuming mail is coming (sent) from one account and being relayed to many – but this is, or will appear to be, coming from hundreds of addresses and going to one address - exactly the opposite)
Ideas ?
[EDIT] Albeit i could get the remote server to pop the mail off and leave a copy, it's not practical in this situation - must be forwarded so it can be pushed to a Blackberry via BES.
