Emergency Power

quality is far and above the Tesla -
Chinese quality is something I’ve been startled by. All the ‘Asian Tiger’ economies seem to follow the same model. When I was a child “Made in Japan” was cheap and junky. Not any more. Canon, Toyota, etc. Same with Singapore and Korea. Malaysia is exiting the model and Viet Nam and Cambodia are entering it.” Made in China” is becoming a sign of quality.

I'm working on an after-market accessory for Teslas. It’s a diesel generator and integrated fuel tank. You'd basically have a tank full of fuel in the car, and the generator would run while you drive, thus charging the battery. Every time the fuel tank runs out, you'd have to stop at a special filling station to get more.
A Venter trailer/Ryobi combo with extension cord.

News flash son, China has always made things of good quality. If you ordered an item from them to be manufactured, they would provide it at whatever quality you required and were prepared to pay for.

Made in China on most consumer goods is still a sign of cheap shyte and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon.

This is in the same comment. Are you schizo?

I think you possibly struggle with basic comprehension

Help me out here. This seems contradictory. First you say,

“China has always made things of good quality”.

Then one line later you say,

“Made in China on most consumer goods is still a sign of cheap shyte and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon”.

I cannot reconcile those statements in my comprehension.

If you ask them for quality, you get quality.

If you ask them for cheap, you get cheap.

Most corporates are after profits, so cheap it is, hence everything made in china is low quality.

In addition – the future looks socialist and technical. China is both.
Dream on. Utopia tomorrow.

Ineluctably, socialism and technical are mutually exclusive. Socialism is a universal solvent that destroys everything. It is fundamentally incompatible with human life.

Include me out. My tribe will oppose this to death. Better dead than red.

PS. Just yesterday finished reading David Goldman's "You Will Be Assimilated".

China is socialist. No corporations and no profit. That grasping greed only happens under capitalism.
I meant corporations from the west. Of course there's capitalism in china, how many billionaires do they have? Why do western nations corporations have production in china, cheap labour, more profit no?

Of course there's capitalism in china
That’s because of the special economic zones of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Canton, Hong Kong and Kowloon. Because China (unlike the West) are making efforts towards a hybrid ideology combining capitalism and socialism. At least someone’s making an effort instead of hand wringing and demonization.

Not really. The PRC is a strange brew of state capitalism, fascist economics, and authoritarian centralist political control. It has been for millennia. The current CCP ideological stance is just a gloss.

It’s a business decision. China will pressure Musk (for their own reasons) as a whole country is a captive market for their product (cheap EV’s). Musk need not do SA any favours.

I would be interested in seeing anti SA rants. I don’t doubt you but I would like details.

Note: There may be projection on my side. I went through this at boarding school and that was in KZN. It must have been an order of magnitude worse in Pretoria.
Yeah Musk had it rough, I will try to find some of the posts around it.
I know his old school approached him for a donation a few years ago, he gave them R1 mil and asked them never to contact him again.

I don't blame him. I was a term boarder at boarding school. This means I went home 4x a year (before holidays). There was no escape. This was in KZN ('The Last Outpost). It must have been truly horrible in Pretoria.

I was a weekly border from std 3 to 5 in pretoria. I came from durban and couldn't roll my "R's" I was laughed at a bit for that but I didn't take it personally and laughed with them. I am small for my age and looked 4 years behind in age compared to my peers. I was never bullied throughout my whole schooling days because I didn't take **** from anyone and didn't act like a victim. I had no fear and definitely suffered from short man syndrome. So my point is, don't behave like prey and the predators will leave you alone.

Anything but. I am an expert on bully evasion. The school was pukka English colonial which means there was a ‘stiff upper lip’ code amongst the boys which you broke at your peril.. You absolutely did not complain to authority about bullying. As a long-term boarder I had to comply with this code. So if my usual refuge of hiding in the ‘Box Room’ (where empty suitcases etc were kept) didn’t work, my final, back-to-the-wall ploy was to roll around so much in fights and definitely dirty and untidy the bully’s clothes (I got beaten-up but that was going to happen anyway). The teachers would break it up and the bully would have to explain why he was dirty and untidy. Teacher’s were English (KZN) and although I was bound by the code of omerta, the teacher’s knew very well what was going on and gave the bullies a through and unforgiving questioning. I came up roses. I had adhered to the code and my (largely successful) attempts to make the entire process of picking on me unprofitable and difficult, worked. The thugs were foiled during the day but the battle was resumed in the dormitories at night.
