That's why I have some serious reservations when it comes to all those calls for instituting permanent Stage 1 or 2 blackouts so Eskom can catch up on repairs etc. AFAIK these things weren't designed to be switched on and off all the time.

The older units - no. Sadly, the new upgraded stations in places like Meyerton can.
