The current crop of netbook type laptops all come with 32 gigabyte eMMC HDD's. Seems these cannot be upgraded.

So my question is, how durable and reliable are these HDD's?

I think it will be fine for a net book, just to browse the net etc. Light usage. Life span should be ok

As I understand it Win10, takes up most of the eMMC drive anyway, so to do anything useful with it, you have to factor in an external USB HDD anyway. So you are not going to save much money over a Celeron Laptop anyway.

Well, eMMC is generally faster than SD. Dunno about lifetime tho.

Class 10 SD cards in my RPi's are generally decently fast, and easily replaceable - eMMC, seems are not replaceable. :(
