Cape Town – The luxurious Blue Train derailed at Union Station in Germiston, Gauteng.

According to reports on Sunday, the train derailed overnight and had no passengers on board.

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) confirmed to Citizen that it was investigating the cause after 19 empty coaches of one of the Blue Trains derailed at the Union Station in Germiston, just after midnight on Sunday.

“This was a staged (unmanned) train with no passengers on board. No injuries were reported on-site,” Transnet was quoted as saying.

you remember those blue loco's that were too high, quietly they were sold off to african countries.

Literally.

actually worked not far away from this, used to see it trundling past early when I reported for work, always thought its something so quaint,
and yes the tracks and everything else in the vicinity is/was worn to bits, so not surprised to see it derailed,

I mean if they couldn't steal the scrap metal from SCAW metals right next door, might as well steal part of the railway.
easier target.

What happened to the Blue Train is symbolic to what is happening to the country (under the rule of the ANC).
exactly this, a Luxury train with things unheard of in Africa (nuclear power stations, freeways, factories)
derailed due to cable and steel theft that eats away at its foundations.

Everything the ANC touches turns to $hit.
100% this, such a beautiful train, from a bygone era, reduced to looking like a child's discarded toy,
because it was running on worn out rails and infrastructure that was stripped away.

but then again, you get what you voted for, and you voted for this.
so enjoy seeing everything beautiful and luxurious reduced to looking like a Minibus Taxi.

also not the first time the blue train was a victim of the times, even the security guards looted the train.
