Issue I've had with Mame over the years is that I have not been able to get a decently responsive controller - for some reason neither Xbox nor the PS4 controllers work very well (imo there's too much lag which spoils the experience - yes Pengo, I'm looking at you)
I've never had good experiences with PS emulation. Even going back to PS1 they always need massive amounts of configuration and still can't perform well. I think Sony uses such complex custom hardware that it's a nightmare to get emulation to work.
That must have been some time ago no?
I do PS1 emulation on my RG351 @ 60 fps with no config needed, out the box.
PS2/PS3 also works on my gaming PC, granted that you need at least 8 physical cores for PS3 to work properly but thats is cause of Cell tech used.
Only config I need is when I up the resolution to 2x or more, example getting original GT2 to run at 1080p @ 60 or such.
Well it was a while since I did PS1. I tried PCSX2 a couple of years ago to run Ico and it wasn't a great experience. Maybe it's better now though, I should try it out.

I'll try it with my wireless xbox series S/X in wired mode (usb C connection)Have you tried a generic XBox 360 Wired for PC controller? The wired part sucks, but in general they work very well.
I have the previous model, RG350P - works great up tp PS1. The RG552 looks like it is going to be a actively cooled beast of a device. The Ayn Odin also looks promising.Went for ultimate geek out
Got an RG351 popped on 351Elect with over 10 000 retro games.... Granted loads of them are dupes from other systems (Example: 1945 for mame, nes, C64 and so on) but still
Pro's
Controls are awesome
Handles games with ease
Simple to navigate and use
Con's
No Wifi/Bluetooth (Only on RG351M model)
No TV Out
No internal storage
Wish the screen was a tad bit bigger.
My dream device would be something a tad bigger, but not Odroid Super/Switch lite kind of big and with Bluetooth & HDMI out so you can use it like a console when not using it as a handheld.
The rumored RG352 looks like the perfect size for me.

So, on that...Mame works on Windows or Linux (not that I know how to get Linux configured)? Does the M.2 fit into that, and will all the Mame games run off the little onboard graphics card nicely?Batocera on Pi + 1TB HD + Argon One case + Nygacn = Retro heaven![]()

Excellent, thanks! I'd like to look into this along with 2 wireless gamepads for the kids to play (hell, really me!) when they're able too play.Pi does not support Windows but you do not need to be a Linux guru to run Batocera. All linux stuff is set up for you so you only deal with the UI.
You get Argon one cases that take dedicated M.2
And yes, all the ROM's I have including CHD's work like a charm. Just make sure your ROMs are set for the version you emulating.
Personally I downloaded MAME 0.141 and used Romcenter to fix/audit all my ROMs using 0.141's exe. Then copied them into Batocera using MAME lib 2010.

Got a Wii which they play during the holidays. Would love to get an Xbox so they can play Minecraft with friends overseas.
