Have been trying to enable LTE on my data sim for 2 weeks now. Every time I call they put a request in to activate and say it takes 72 hours. Still no LTE and I have LTE capable modem running on both 2100 and 1800 MHZ spectrum which is what MTN uses.

I have a feeling that it is the Sim card. The Sim does not state LTE or 128k which is what is required for being LTE capable. However afrihost say all their Sims are LTE capable. My colleague is having the same issue. Even took the Sim to an mtn store and they say it is not LTE capable...but Afrihost insists it is ...

Anyone with similar issues.... Any suggestions to resolve.?

Get it swapped to lte one. Had the exact same problem. Once I got the correct one, all is working now.

There are some SIMS that don't have the LTE logo on that are capable - but in general it would be a good assumption that the SIM is not LTE ready. Are you using one of our SIMs or APN access on an MTN SIM?

Best would be to issue you new LTE capable SIMS, and then we can provision them on the network. Please drop me PM :(

+1 - Ordered recently a card from them - they sent an LTE SIM CARD without requesting.

All our SIMs should generally be LTE capable - but we've had a few that turned out to be wonky since we launched. The idea is to give everyone LTE access where they have coverage and an LTE device.

Ive got a sim swap. Waiting for LTE activation. Will PM if I have issues...

Awesome! Did you've to ask for SIM CARD replacement if you did, did they assign the same number.

Nope, unfortunately they don't seem to have teh same facility as network providers where they do a sim swap. They close your existing account/sim and assign a new one. Refund you balance of the month prorate on old...

We are hoping to have facilities to do SIM swops eventually, but we'll need to be able to encode blank SIMS with very expensive machinery. That's the aim eventually though :)
