Hi

How do you enable a SIM for data?

Wife's got a Crackberry 9300, but when she tried to access the internet, she got told that access was denied. So I suspect it might be that her SIM is not provisioned for data yet.

TIA

Have you enabled the blackberry service yet? What letters do you see in the top right corner of the screen eg. gsm/gprs/edge and are they in caps or not?

Am I wrong in assuming that you'll be able to go on the internet without having BIS?

I think there is a way...but then you have to fiddle with the settings and APN and crap. Blackberries gets provisioned with settings automatically when the phone connects to the BIS service for the first time. Without service books...the phone is basically a Nokia...can only SMS and phone *giggles*

hehehehe

Thanks for the confirmation :D

Wife said she's not interested in the internet and emails, so that's no biggie. She's only using it for SMS'es and phoning.

Not gonna krap around just to change some settings.

Hi The_Librarian

Blackberry internet will only be activated by BIS / BES , as Rim its self send APN setting to phone not network providers.
But you can sms and call.

How you have BB and not BIS  lol

hehehehe. Wife wanted to upgrade. Asked around, found that the 'berry 9300 is a good one.

When asked about BIS (extra R60) she said no thanks. She said she doesn't need emails/internet on the 'berry, but was just wondering if it was possible with an ad-hoc databundle and no BIS.

Thanks :)
