Hey

I have ubuntu 12.04 installed on my laptop. A while back I did some personifying and installed cairo dock and disabled unity. Now I don't want cairo dock anymore (at least not the way I have it at the moment...)

But I can't seem to figure out how to get unity back:confused: I'm not sure how I disabled it in the first place....

Any help?

I've never disabled Unity so I don't have experience with this per se, however I would start with:

1) sudo apt-get remove cario-dock (or whatever its package name is)
2) then run "ccsm" (or CompizConfig Settings Manager in the menu)
and in ccsm you'll find the Unity Plugin... enable that and start customizing your interface in and around CCSM.

That's at least how it works on my install, although I've done more customization over the years than I can remember :|

Thank you for the reply. I just realised that I didn't disable it, just set the side bar on hide and forgot about it. I downloaded MyUnity and changed the setting back to fixed:)

Just for future reference, in the terminal you can type

unity --reset

and

unity --reset-icons
