Hi. Can someone maybe confirm if my findings are true or false:

When you encrypt a file on Windows 7 with the built-in EFS and email that file to another person, they cannot open the file without the key/certificate. However if you compress the encrypted file with Winrar then send it, the recipient can unrar the file which automatically removes the encryption.

I tested it on my pc's at home and at the office but my resources are limited. Can anyone confirm please. Surely it can't be this easy to steal and decrypt files.

WinRAR would compress the encrypted file, it should not be able to tell that the file has an encryption unless you try to open it (and then it's windows that tells you it's encrypted).

So no, it should not lose the encryption.
You could also encrypt using winRAR and then give the password to those of your choice, seems a lot more useful.
