This month my contact come to and end, and I must say that MTN have made my day with their announcement of roll-over and price struckture of their packages.

I have already put in a request with vodacom to end my contract at the end of this month. At the same time I have asked the person if i can convert my number to a pay as you go and he said yes I can do it. All I have to do is to phone in on the 31st and request the number to be changed to a pay as you go. I am still using my Huawaii modem E220. What I would like to know is if I buy airtime, how do I load that onto my SIM in the E220? What steps do i have to follow to load the voucher and how do I cahnge the Airtime to data?

All i hope now is that Vodacom will follow MTN and give us the same or maybe a bit more. LOL. Otherwise I move to MTN.

some more info roll over and price structure please

good news no doubt
now how long before vc follows suit?

Well I hope very soon, as in the next week or so, because I do not like to leave Vodacom. They deliver to me what I need, but if it come to the pricing and roll-over, I must say I do waste a lot every now and then seeing that I do pay for the bundle every month. It is like filling up your car and at the end of the month, they take back the petrol that you did not use. Where in the world did they come up with this idea of clients pay for goods and then what you do not use, you loose.

Very Sad that this is the case.

I just hope that Vodacam will follow suit soon.

Won't you elaborate a bit on the 'pricing' part of your post? I understand the roll-over bit, but I was under the impression that MTN did not drop pricing at all.

According to the article, there will also be a change to their out-of-bundle pricing structure, but the pricing on their website hasn't been updated yet.

By allowing users to use a 2GB bundle over two months they have effectively dropped the cost of 1GB from R289 to R194.50.

I would have expected the "leading cellular network" to set the pace...

Be that as it may, I can only expect Voda to improve on MTN's offering...

Well as far as I could make out from the previous tech News Item in this is that they will not drop the price at his moment, but the out of bundle of R2.00 or R1.20, will be drastically dropped. What I do like is that if I load my pre-paid with 2gig, I can carry it over for 60 days. So who will not resist this kind of offer. Why my I be robbed blind for what I pay? with Vodacom, if I come to the end of the month and i have 800MB left, I loose it and Vodacom won't even blink to say hey we are robbing you of your hard earn money.

Also in the previous atricle that was on Tech News about MTN, they say that there are more surprises coming in the next two months.

Well all his have changed my mind to switch to MTN. I had some experience with MTN Network in my area and it is for me better than Vodacom. Also I have travelled extensively, and using MTN everywhere, was not problem.

So for me I have no problem to switch.

Xrapidx.
I do not know why you say that I will kick myself later because.in a survey by MyBroadband, MTN’s data offering was voted the best mobile broadband offering in South Africa for 2008.

As for me I go pay as you go on this so it does not tie me down again with a contract. i had enough of contracts and it seems to me that companies do have the attetude that when you are on a contract it seems that they take for ages to solve a problem, because they know you have nowhere to go but to stick with them until your contract is finish.

that is what i have experience now on Tuesday when i phone vodacom to cancel my contract, All of a sudden they want to know why I want to cancel and when I point out to the guy that I still have some unsolved problems from 7 months ago without any reply from their technical staff, he was totally surprised about this. I just kept quite about this, because I had enough. After I have cancelled my contract for the end of this month, all of a sudden I start to get calls about my problems that I did report long time ago.

For the past 8 month I am on MTN Pay as you go as an add-on to my data pack that I do have with vodacom, and I must say I haven't had much problem with them, and if a problem occure, it is solved very quickly and in a professional manner. At least at MTN if I do ask the help centre to speak to one of they senior techno guys, they do not tell me that they will first try to solve the problem and then ask the techno guys to call me back in the next 48 hours. Their service and customer care I like.

Well that is my opinion and each and very person have to make up their own minds.
