Hi guys,

I've been looking for a portable source to power up some gadgets and came across the energy stick. Have any of you used one and is it worth buying?

/bump

I noticed there are quite a number of views but no replies. Is there anybody that is able to provide a review? Below is the only store I've found that have the energy sticks in stock but hesitant to get one if it doesn't meet up with expectations. The purpose would be to use it when other power sources are unavailable.

Got something similar...think its called rhyder or something.

Works well enough. Don't really use it all that much though since I'm usually near a PC/laptop & just carry a usb cable.

Search results didn't return anything for "rhyder". I don't own a PC and the laptop won't charge anything unless it's plugged into an electrical oulet and switched on so will come in handy if it works well enough.

Do you know if "charge time" specifies the time the gadget takes to charge or how much charge time available for the devices?

Samsung sell a similar device. You could phone Burchall at samsung in cresta on 011 478 5010 and ask about it. He's very knowledgeable and helpful.

P.S. their unit is for phones and tablets as far as i know.

Thanks for the advice. Will give Burchall a call. It will be for charging phone and tablet on the go or for even when Eskom goes about loadshedding without notice.

Found it...."ryder".

2600mah "Innovative design in Hong Kong".

Its pretty much good for one, maybe one and a half cellphone charges.

I wouldn't worry too much about brand here tbh...its pretty much just a battery.

Cool thanks, will be checking it out as well.

Thank you. Did you know those products are outdated though? Half the links don't work because the website doesn't exist anymore or product is taken off the market.

Yea...
You asked " Have any of you used one" so instead of "yes" I pointed you to a thread, thought maybe it could help with some perspective on mAh ratings etc. that and you kinda seemed desperate for info with the bumping and all :p. I hardly use mine TBH on occasion with power failure or when camping. My car charger gets a lot more use.

Sorry, I do appreciate the advice. Maybe I should be seriously considering investing in a car charger first and then move on to other power sources.

I use this. It is relatively big and heavy, about the size of an external 2.5" drive. Aside from that and taking a while to charge, it works very well, is really convenient due to the size of the battery and has good build quality. I don't have a tablet, so I've never used the 2.4A usb port, though.

I see that Takealot have the much cheaper Romoss powerbanks, though, which seem to be rated pretty well on Amazon.

Purchased a Dausen 10400mah power bank thingy from Govan Mani for R560 a few weeks back. Charges phones like a normal charger but a full charge of the unit can take 8-10hrs.
