I need to know if a car handbook and the dealer confirms that the Hyundai I10 fuel capacity is 35.11lt and you still have 2 bars above empty on the gauge that would indicate roughly that you still have between 8 and 10 lts left. The pump attendant fills the tank with 44lts - could someone explain to me how this is possible - anyone that could confirm this would be appreciated.:twisted:
 
I would insist they show me proof of how the pump is calibrated, Even if the tank is full and they fill it right up to the petrol cap, the Diameter of the hose cant be much more than 60mm? and no more than 500mm in length.. Which will equate to an additional 1.4l (Volume = π×r²×h)... So I call BS at the pump! Was it zero to start with?


Go back with the slip, call the manager and ask him to explain.... diffeence of 33 to 44 liters is 33% of the tanks capacity... impossible.

Theft. Or badly calibrated pump.
 
It's probably possible when they fill up to and over the expansion space in the tank

by 11L ? no way! I always tell petrol attendants to stop pumping when the auto click comes into play... forget squeezing that last drop .. whats the point!
 
Did you watch the attendant, because they are known to fill a container on the side when you not looking.
 
FYI for OP: I drove my i10 to two bars (and then some more) and when I filled up it came to 30l and the car could not take a ml more. You got screwed, its obvious they did not reset the pump.
 
I would say not more than 10% over stated capacity. I can squeeze about 8% over capacity into my Sandero. :)
 
Remember that if you overfill your tank you run the risk of it rupturing in an accident causing a catastrophic fire. Never overfill your car, after the first "click" when the pump stops it is best to stop putting fuel into the tank.

when the pump clicks stop, you can fit another 5 litres into my car, that makes a HUGE diff, instead of doing just over 600km i can get over 800km on my 1.6 i20...so yes it does make a diff

Mmmmm? That would mean that you vehicle's fuel consumption over that "extra" 200 odd km is 40km/l! Not possible!
