Trescothick will be one source of invaluable guidance, but another will be Kevin Pietersen, whose own elevation to the England team followed a remarkably similar path. Having completed his qualification in the summer of 2004, Pietersen was belatedly added to the one-day party for the tour of South Africa in January 2005, and went on to score three centuries in five innings. He can offer plenty first-hand experience of coping with the brickbats that come with being a South African "import".

And he seems to be an explosive batsmen/keeper.

It looks to me that Heino(sp?) Kuhn is the one to take over from Boucher.

yeah thats who they looking at now. Its gonna be so freaking hard for any keeper to try replace boucher. He will constantly be criticized, i hope he can step up to the plate when the time comes.

but I'm proud to be an English person and here as part of the England side."

Being born with both passports put me in a fortunate position. I lived a couple of months every year in Britain with my mother's side of the family, and I've always loved the country, the culture, the people

Welcome to the English cricket team my mate.

[-]1. Andrew Strauss[/-] Left SA age 6
2. KP
[-]3. Matt Prior[/-] Left SA age 11
4. Craig Kieswetter
5. Jonathan Trott
Fixed :D That was like saying Andrew Mehrtens and Roger Federer are South African...

Quota system? And the all too famous "boys club" of SA cricket case in point: Nic Pothas has a first class average of 42. Was dominating domestic cricket (at the time), hardly got a look in. Left for England, who's fault is that?

They should just change the name of the team to the South Africa B team.

1. Andrew Strauss :Mom is English2. KP :Mom is English
3. Matt Prior :parents are English4. Craig Kieswetter :Mom is Scottish
5. Jonathan Trott :Grandparents are English

:wtf:

All of them are from English stock, so whats the problem???

Considering all the English expats/English stock players playing for SA cricket over the decades, The Proteas could also be a British B team.

dude, i'm sure if you follow all our cricketers ancestor line, they will all be english... you chop....
1. Andrew Strauss :Mom is English - Dad is South African 2. KP :Mom is English - Dad is South African
3. Matt Prior :parents are English - Wouldn't have ever made the SA team, so who cares 4. Craig Kieswetter :Mom is Scottish ???
5. Jonathan Trott :Grandparents are English

argument flawed.....

but keep on using players that don't come through your own domestic systems, we've seen how well that works for the English Soccer team....

because its off season in SA?

edit: also, doesn't bother us too much, they are still SA cricketers, playing domestic...

the problem is not SA cricketers playing county, the problem for you guys is the lack of "homegrown" talent in England...

why do have to find them here, eligible or not...

I dont think England have to look very far and beg for these guys, Its these guy's who make the decision and want to play for England, and if they are good enough, England selects them.

dude, you are missing the whole argument... nevermind

just think, even with all our sh.t in SA cricket, and our domestic system, we are still producing better english players than England's own system....

Is this not the reason why English/SA players rather opt to play for England, why hate or dislike them for their choice.

Yip sorry, nevermind. SA cricket development is better,

it never was [for me] an issue of hating/dislike the English SA players. [ i quite like Trott, KP we all know why SA hates/dislikes him - but i think on the latest tour, we all saw that has passed, no-one really booed him, or anything]

the argument is this: Lets say SA goes completely legit in cricket [no more Quotas, etc] tomorrow, and these guys like Trott/Kieswetter etc, decide to stay in SA cricket, where will you guys find your players?

England would have to start growing the 100% locals and they will struggle, that i dont deny.

Now, this is what my point/argument is all about,? considering that these players are 50% S African and 50% English, England has a right to use them just like SA does, do you agree????

I guess i get a liitle annoyed when everyone keeps hammering on the same subject about how Englands needs SA/English players in their team, when the same can be said for SA cricket over the decades, thats the point i was trying to make.

Anyway back on topic, Kieswetter sounds like a promising young cricketer, hope he does well for himself.

Boucher was better than pothas that's why. They emerged at the same time.

Kieswetter made his choice good for him. We still have kuhn in the wings and a very exciting propsect in barnes from the dolphins. Hardly anything to cry about.

like i said, good for them, i'm even a fan of some of them

but then we agree on something, thats just the big thing i've noticed, using all the "south africans" to make up the team, i meant more the players that were schooled/taught cricket here. My problem is that England is turning a blind eye to the real problem with their own domestic system, and probably keep on praying that one "south african" englishman emerges every few years, to keep their team strong...

warning bells should have sounded a long time ago...
