You can't blame the English administrators for having a better eye for talent than ours or for players to go where they have the opportunity to represent a team at international level.

Cricket South Africa dropped the ball with Trott, KP and now Kieswetter. These guys should have been part of the national set up long before they were chosen to represent England.

rofl the surenames Kieswetter and Pietersen is as Afrikaans as it comes :D

in any case, if you add Tony Greig to that list then its 6 that England produced out of foreign genes.

Quota system? And the all too famous "boys club" of SA cricket case in point: Nic Pothas has a first class average of 42. Was dominating domestic cricket (at the time), hardly got a look in. Left for England, who's fault is that?
If memory serves he first went to the US to try and get a baseball contract. It didn't work out but I suppose it's an interesting story he can tell around the dinner table.

Boucher was better than pothas that's why. They emerged at the same time.

Kieswetter made his choice good for him. We still have kuhn in the wings and a very exciting propsect in barnes from the dolphins. Hardly anything to cry about.

Don't U think daryn smit is a bit better than barnes? His keeping at least is.

Keeping yes but then smit is a better keeper than kuhn as well and the only local keeper than is close to smit is boucher. But cricket has changed , in past era's the keeper was only picked on his keeping ability now he needs to be a keeper/batsman. Just don't think daryn has the batting ability to play international cricket. Barnes is the better batsman by some distance and from I have seen the best upcoming keeper/batsman we have.

And he seems to be an explosive batsmen/keeper.
Explosive in the sense that he blows up immediately. He was dropped on his first ball in the last game, and dismissed on his second.

1. Andrew Strauss
2. KP
3. Matt Prior
4. Craig Kieswetter
5. Jonathan Trott
:wtf:
And add to that Morgan (Scot).... there's not so many Englishmen in the English team.

Strauss was iirc the 4th SA-born Eng captain, after Grieg, Lamb and Pietersen.

Yeah, when I said Scot I meant Irish. Ed Joyce is another former Irish who has played for Eng.

And of course, Kieswetter goes and scores a century this morning.

Any case County Stats should be valued less quite frankly. Its not the strongest competition in the world. It should be devalued even more if Kieswetter played in the 2nd Division
