England have announced their squad to tour SA.

Very ordinary pace attack looking at that. If we are smart we will prepare the traditional fast bouncy SA/Aus type wickets for them. That attack has no pace and will struggle on those type of wickets as we have seen. Give them green seamers and the likes of anderson comes into the game.

Kevin Pietersen: England’s decision to drop Ian Bell for South Africa is pathetic

Kevin Pietersen has hit out at the England selectors, describing their decision to drop Ian Bell from the Test squad to tour South Africa next month as “pathetic”.

I disagree Bell has been rather poor, in recent tests saw a stat on Cricinfo of 28 average in last eight tests for an away test you really cant hope that Bell will hit form.

KP's point was they stuck with Cook for 2 years while he regained form, bell was in bad form for a much shorter time. He is talking about different treatment for certain people...

Well by that theory then most of our top batsmen needs to be dropped as well? Including the great # :whistle:

I was commenting on this point here, I think the point about Cook was his second point

“It’s absolutely ridiculous. I understand how people say he might not have scored some runs for a while but you’re going to play South Africa, in South Africa – one of the best bowling attacks that’s bowled over the last few years. You have to take him for his experience. You just have to take him

Well either way I am perfectly happy to face ballance & co instead of KP& Bell ;)
 
I hope those that wanted tickets for the New Years test bought, because days 1-3 are sold out and day 4 and 5 are quickly going that way.

Time for Newlands to expand? Tickets getting sold out earlier and earlier every year.

It's the barmy army coming with their pounds...must be nice to travel on the back of a strong currency all the time.

He's a great in the making, that one. Him and Cook are the only batsmen we have to consistently be worried about. Hopefully Vern and Steyn get back into shape and can do some damage to their top order. Morkel has been bowling really well in India...long may it continue!

He has been playing well. He along with cook are the key batsman, not worried about the rest.

Lets see how Root goes on quick bouncy tracks, had a shocker last time in aus.

This is the SA team I would pick if everyone is fit:

1.Van Zyl/Cook/Puttick ( not sure how to go for tbh van zyl isn't convincing as the opener but other 2 only averages 40 in fc cricket doesn't really convince either)
2.Elgar
3.Amla
4.Ab
5.Faf
6.JP
7.QDK
8.Philander *
9.Harmer
10.Steyn
11.Morkel

If Vern isn't fit for the first test then rababda plays and harmer and steyn move one up.

Hopefully we prepare quick bouncy tracks, green seamers would be a mistake brings englands slower seamers into the game while fast bouncy good tracks favor the genuine fast bowlers.
