The main thing people complained about was slow autofocus, I think a firmware update reduced AF time a little. I think you'll need an adaptor but you can use your EF lenses.
I've also read that the AF speed problem was only partially resolved. I really do like the idea of being able to use my EF lenses.
I'm thinking of the EOS M as a back-back-back-up/travel camera so while I won't want to use my EF lens collection with it on a regular basis being able to if I have to seems to be an advantage over not being able to. The EOS M is also more than 1kg lighter than my current travel body.Ok, but would an EOS M2 with EF zoom lenses not still be rather bulky? If you stick a small prime on the M, maybe a 35 mm lens, or perhaps something a little wider, then you have something compact, but if you use an EF zoom lens then you are not going to save all that much weight/size over something like the 100D (or whatever it is called).
Just playing devil's advocate here. If you are only going to use the M with small (short) prime lenses, then you could do better with something completely different, like the Sony RX100 ?
I can only imaging what it would look like with e 70-200mm f.2.8 and a 2x teleconverter!Small body with standard EF-S lens =

That looks like it's going to tear itself out of your hand. A smaller body doesn't make much diff with a standard, large lens.

You normally travel with a Pentax 645?![]()

Most people support the weight of the camera via the lens, not the body, at least when using longer lenses?
Better than that

Sigma 200-500
And yes, but from time to time you do shoot single handed. I think anything other than a 40mm pancake with the EOS M is gonna break your wrist![]()
My Brother who is a pro photographer has one as a travel camera. He uses the lenses designed for it, but has the adaptor in case. the Firmware update helped a lot, he says he wouldn't use it for shooting action photos though. Overall he is very happy with the quality and the compact size for travel.
I reckon you'd get quite a nice shadow from the lens hood if you used the flashNot quite as spectacular as the sigma but...

BTW, give me a shout if you want to dump that 7d.
First impressions are I'm glad it came with the mount adapter. The EF-m lens is so very very slow. I've got a 24-105 on it now and while it's a bit ungainly I'm getting used to it.
Any comments on the screen in daylight conditions outside? According to post #17 in this thread on FM, it's not too goodI'm beginning to think of getting one of these for macro work. The weight should help with keeping the system steady during focussing (manual). I need to do more research...

That will make manual focusing a bit painful...
