Epic on Piracy and PCs

Don't blame the companies, blame the stupid scene. Pirates are the reason PC gaming is dying. Its the greedy lil' f_cks out there who only want free games and will never buy anything, they are also the one's complaining about DRM and "being forced" to use cracks. BS.

So you feel it's okay to be forced to play a game you bought legitimately with an always online system. Even though your line is crappy and you get booted to the main screen every ten minutes? Game developers should stop focusing on eliminating piracy and should concentrate on keeping their customers. It's a childish way of doing business.

It's only in bandwidth starved countries like ours where these protocols really screw the people over. And if you knew the game requires a permanent connection, and you know you don't meet this minimum requirement, then why on would you buy it? Its like buying crysis for a pc running a geforce 5000 series card, or GTA 4 for pc running a AMD athlon cpu.

Really, its just an extra requirement the PC gaming industry brought on them selves for being selfish and greedy.

Yeah and the the 'bandwidth starved' doesn't really fly any more really. If you can afford a rig to play the latest games on then forking out for an internet connection shouldn't be that much of a stretch.

Saying that, if you're still playing the original Half Life 2 on a 6 year old PC which you spent 3 days activating it on the same 56kbps dial-up connection you're still using today. My heart goes out to you.

Yet the other entertainment mediums aren't subject to this. Look at how rampantly movies are being pirated. Or an even betetr example, music. Do you see those industries forcing their consumers to go online to activate their music or movies? Do you see them requiring you to sign up to a service which binds your software to your name so you can't pirate it or use itwithout them knowing? Face it, the gaming industry is seriously flawed.

They are, they just have a much bigger target audience thus bigger product houses. It would be interesting to know what the ratio of gamer player (slash buyer) to music/movie watcher (slash buyer) was.
