EPL 2011 Summer Transfers

Not that I think it will happen, but if Arsenal allow themselves to be bullied by Barca over the Fabregas transfer, they're a disgrace. Wenger should tell Barcelona to go **** themselves, publicly demand a pledge of loyalty from Cesc, and threaten to make him play for the reserves if he doesn't start acting like an Arsenal player. If they let him go for anything short of 40m, they're idiots.

I think the way Barca have conducted themselves in the Cesc transfer saga in recent years is a result of Arsenal NOT allowing themselves to be bullied by Barca. Barca have been reduced to using the media to try and force a move for Cesc. There has been and will be only one team that is the disgrace in this whole fiasco and it aint Arsenal. Arsenal keep the negotiations between the clubs and not via the media. They only confirm bids and state if it has been accepted / rejected. Arsenal will NOT resort to Barca's level and try use the media to keep Cesc.

Barca have apparently offered the release clause of 45 mil for Neymar. Where they plead poverty when trying to bargain for Cesc. It's digusting.

Personally, I am happy to let Cesc go. It is clear his heart lies in Catalunya. He lacks the commitment that an Arsenal captain should have. He was gallivanting around the Spanish Grand Prix, when his team was playing their last game of the season in England. WTF? I am beginning to wonder how good it is on team morale by having your captain constantly wanting away. A captain needs to live and breath the club, and the last Arsenal captain to do that was Tony Adams. Are there any doubts regarding Ferdinand, Terry, Gerrard? No.

The truth is that Barca really don't want or need Fabregas at the moment.

18 mil for a 20 year old keeper? He must be the real deal.

Can only hope at this stage. We'll see if he's United material. If he's as good as the price indicates, he could be our keeper for a long long time to come. However, the hype sometimes is just that - hype. We found that out the hard way with Barthez.

If he is any good, I give it 2 years before he is back in Spain. Might be a good investment though.

:( Yeah true. But Casillas is a good few years away from retirement and Valdes is young still. If he's good I don't see him going to Spain and gambling with a team that might not make the CL.

I was watching a bit of the U21 matches, his performances are solid... also watching a few youtube highlights A.Madrid's defence is shocking without him Barca would have dominated them 10-1 :D

WRT to Utd spending all this money, where are they getting all this money all of a sudden or is it the interest they got from the sale of Ronaldo. To be honest its scary how Utd is spending and getting what they want. But guess the season only starts in a month and a half, so still a while to go.

One good season and he will be on both Real and Barca's radars.

Personally I hope he is a failure and stays with United for many years to come. :p

Like King Kenny said, now player is bigger than the club and that is the philosophy Arsenal should use. I take Mascherano as an example, when he wanted to leave and Liverpool didn't want him to go, you could see his heart was not in it. And mindset plays alot in the type of football that you play. Let him go, there are many more players out there can do what he does. Take the money and invest in new talent, you guys have backup. Me personally don't know why Barca need Fabregas, they got the worlds midfielders. He is going to be a 40mil pound bench warmer.

He was at the GP cos he was allowed. Remember in europe its not a trip to cape town from jhb. He was injured so what's the sense making him do nothing, let him go home and have time with his family.

You forgot Neville :p

I agree, but Arsenal shouldn't be bullied for a cut price on Cesc I'd say sell him @ 40+ million and make Barca pay,

Why the hell not? Barca paid what 60 million plus Eto for a bench warming Ibra so what's wrong with spending 40 million for Cesc to go bench warm there - after a year Cesc will be gatvol and regret for leaving like Hleb :D

Is everyone at Merseyside gone to sleep since the capture of Henderson. all i hear is all these rumours of a list of players kenny is going to buy. is it a money issue now. utd have bought 3 players already. more then anyone in the top 6. just saw that Connor Wickem has gone to Sunderland. we need to be spending wisely in the market.

Agree with the GP thing. For me its not that big an issue. Let the guy have some rest. He's been involved in football for the past 3 years without a decent break.

The transfer saga for me is pretty simple. There are 2 bidders. Arsenal want him for +-45mil and Barca want him for 30mil. Until Barca outbid Arsenal he will stay at Arsenal.

At best I would make either RVP or Vermaelen Captain and make a media statement that Cesc wants to concentrate on his game and its best he doesn't deal with the rigors of captaincy as well.

Cesc has plenty of incentive to perform for Arsenal. Showing Barca what they're missing + getting into Spain Euro 2012 squad/team.
