EPL 2011 Summer Transfers

Fair enough, nothing against Man City, they've got the money and they can do what they like with it. My gripe is with the players. Dreams vs money. Dissapointed.

He has ambition and dreams of doing well... he went to a team that is in the Champions League and looks like they will be in the champions League for the foreseeable future. He didn't move to Man city a la Toure/Toure/Adebayor/Tevez where moving meant a step down in class (from a competitive perspective at least). I can't see any negatives around this transfer - a club in the ECL with money bought a brilliant player. Same old same old. Just because that team is Man City and not (say for example) Liverpool is irrelevant.

MCFC doesn't quite have the same ring as MUFC does it...... even with a few Saudi billions....

One sounds like a rapper, the other like a weird new porn term. CFC harms the environment. It's all good. :p

EDIT: Which is funny, because the owner of CFC is an oil/gas billionaire.

Its true what most people are thinking, why City. But City is growing in stature as the guys mentioned and they can afford him. And Football is becoming like a job, if the job pays better you are going to go. So you can't blame a player going to another club if he is going to get paid better. Because that is what 99% of the population would of done anyway.

Good signing for City, lets hope it doesn't pay off

o.O

It is a job. It has been a job since footy turned pro. I mean all these "money is ruining the game" arguments (if you can call them arguments in the first place) have been recycled since the 1880s when the whole "pro vs amateur" debate was going on in England. Utter tosh.

Real sh*t... was hoping he would join Chelsea. :/
Quite surprised he chose them over Chelsea.

I was hoping for the opposite. If we are going to get a midfielder, might as well be Modric. Already acclimatised to the EPL and around three years older than Pastore which means that he we can sell him in a year or two at his peak (and after having won a few trophies ;) and replace him with a McEachran that is top class. Also, he is the perfect replacement for Lampard in these new systems we are playing... not Pastore.

As far as surprise that he chose PSG - it's not all that surprising. They need him more than we do, and thus offered more than we did. The mere fact that they are signing lots of quality players means that they will be there or thereabouts when it comes to the end of the season so choosing was only an option of money.

Well I don't see Modric becoming Blue anytime soon.

I know that, but the way you going on sounded like he was likely to join.

Well we did have two bids rejected and are considering a third, so it's not that unlikely. However, it all depends on what AVB decides... personally I hope he decides to blood our youngsters and tweak the tactics to the players we have. Pastore would have been an epic waste of money since a trequartista is not what we need right now... and should we need one, Benayoun can fill that gap nicely.

Well AVB has said he is going to focus on the youngsters, that's why he brought in Romeu and Courtois (sp?).

WRT Aguero, kinda glad Chelsea didn't get him, since then it would mean Sturridge wouldn't get a chance, but kinda sad that Man C got him.

No... I think it was a bad decision. We could have offloaded Kalou and Anelka and Sturridge would have had more chances. I think it's gonna cost us this season tbh...

Oh ya true, still not convinced of Kalou, and he should go to Arsenal or something.
What about Lukkaku? He could join.

Hopefully. it's either that or he stays another year with Anderlecht and we get rid of two strikers next year (Kalou, Anelka). Personally though, I think Kalou would be the best ever squad player if he wouldn't sulk about not getting into the team and talking **** about his teammates. The man's a certified moron.

Don't stress, you guys have Torres.
