I have a co.za domain that I registered myself.
I want to manage it myself, pay it myself etc.
It is now on the EPP system and a ISP has control over it, although whois show that I am the registered owner.
Why is this. co.za does not answer my questions and refers me back to the ISP.
Somebody at co.za suggested that i delete the domain and at the same time register it again.
But how will it prevent it from getting on the EPP system?

If it has your name on it it is yours. I dont understand the problem. The EPP system is here to stay. eventually Uniforum will phase out the legacy ticket based system. If you are the registered owner, you can move your domain to any registrar.

EPP

@ssparc, there are actually a few parts to your question

Most .co.za Registrars allow you to manage (change, update, edit) the information on your domains yourself

I want to …, pay it myself etc.

As the domain is on EPP and with a Registrar you have to pay the Registrar and the Registrar pays .co.za (Registry) for this. On the old Legacy system you could technically pay for it directly if the billing details were yours.

That is how EPP solutions worldwide work, the ZACR EPP solution works in a similar way to all other international gTLD’s

Very bad advice, if you delete it, anybody can register it and you may not get it again. Additionally, I don’t know if the old Legacy system will allow you to register the domain the old way so the you can be the billing contact and pay for it yourself. If registered with any Registrar on EPP they will be billed by the Registry and you will need to pay the Registrar

Edit:
Additionally, if you delete it, it will go into a pending delete state and you won’t be able to use the domain for 30 days until it is actually deleted
