Epson tank printers

Learnt this lesson this year, last year thanks to kids working from home as well, cheap Canon printer ended up costing R3700. Got an ink tank and it's cheap to run, sure the printer wasn't cheap.
I paid R2400 for mine from Makro about 3 weeks ago... Not the Wifi one though.

I have about 5 Epson cartridge printers lying around here, all FUBAR due to blocked print heads.

Are these tank printers more reliable in this respect, or do you also get blocked print heads ?

I like Epson print quality, but at the moment I feel that I will never touch an Epson printer again.

I feel you! Same experience this side. Hated the brands that had the head in the printer, instead of the cartridge.

But so far, touch wood, I've experienced these epson inktank buggers rather giving in due to normal wear and tear before having any print head issues. Got one at home last year, and it is still going strong!

what are you talking about?

The Epson Ink Tank ink is bloody cheap. R150 per colour, and you get around 2000 to 3000 pages per refill.

I got one for a family member who doesn't print all that much, its been reliable and very cost effective since he got it 3 years ago. Now that his wife has to work from home its been her office home printer for a year, and they still havent had to buy ink. They haven't purchased ink since they got it.
I have had a L3050 for a few years and printed well over 1000 pages. I haven't needed to refill yet, just cleaned the jets a few times.

Its great value.

Thanks guys I ordered the printer, did not cost me a cent used Ebucks.
Appreciate the feedback.
This canon MX850 has served me well for so many years but it has definitely reached the end of the road. And the bloody cartridges are hectically expensive

I've an Epson L4160 for a year. The prints are OK, not great. It keeps going out of alignment. The colour prints are much better than a full page of text which has "shadow" prints. I end up printing important stuff on another printer because I know the quality will be much better.

I'm ordering another brand when this printer dies.

I got this one last year.

Takealot had it for 6k but doesn't seem to be listed again.

Awesome printer, still happy with it. Ink has only dropped about 5% in the past year, will probably last a few years before I need to refill it.

Quality is great - borderless prints on photo paper look exactly as if you did them at a shop. Has ADF and everything that you need. The Android app is also great for printing your pics directly from your phone.

If you need to buy photo paper, a cost effective way is to buy lots of variety packs from Takealot at R10 per pack. Works out cheaper than buying a pack of just 4x6 for eg.

I have an Epson L565....happy to date.....Had an HP the Hp build quality seemed better interface more intuitive, however Epson does its job, but I have not used it as a scanner at all as yet.

Looking for refills for Epson L382. Should I go with the original refills at R140 each or try the generic at R230 for all 4 colours + extra black ?

I would try generic. Not like the machine will be able to tell the difference.
