ENews camera team just got stoned by a mob live on T.V :wtf:

Smashed up their van with rocks as the cameraman ran for cover....

Mbombela - Service delivery protests in Wesselton, outside Ermelo, were entering a second day on Tuesday, Mpumalanga police said.

"The protest did not stop last night, it only subsided," Captain Leonard Hlathi said.

He said protesters were still setting tyres alight in the township.

Thirty-three people would appear in the Ermelo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday after they were arrested on Monday and for public violence.

Hlathi said protesters barricaded roads by using burning tyres and stones on Monday.

"They broke down robots and some traffic signs."

Police could not say how many people were participating in the protest because they were operating in different areas.

sjoe there's footage of a cop shooting live rounds at the crowd. SAPS spokesman said the crowd were shooting at them but the cop was standing out in the open apparently not very concerned for his own safety

1. Mods, please merge with the existing thread on this topic.

2. It baffles the mind that the govt is the one who ****ed up with service delivery ... yet the media got attacked (physically!) by the protesters. Why don't you attack your ward councillor??? The dimwit is probably in hiding! The media is giving your case publicity and you attack them? Clever

There are reports stating that this protest is because the community wasn't include in the selection of the ward councilor. Also they are complaining about a person who the community are accusing of soliciting bribes in exchange for work in the local government.

But ja still their actions cannot be condone. They voted for the party at hand and so they must lay in the bed with them.

They are looking for this particular ward councilor.

In that case, their attacks must be aimed at the local council/mayor/bribe solicitor, not the press! The media is their friend in this .. where else would they get publicity like this for free?

Just watched some eNews report on it & one thing puzzles me: Why was every single policeman shown white? Looked like bloody Apartheid all over again...white police shooting at black crowds. I'm sure with SAPS demographics there must be some black officers on the ground too...somewhere?

And no I don't want a huge racist debate...genuinely curious as to why it is (or was portrayed as) black vs white.

Because they are bloody agents!!!

Or it was the media being sensationalist again. :P

The purpose of reporters is to sell newspapers / TV viewing time. The more sensationalist the better and easier it is to sell and generate profit.

I watched it live and I didn't see many black cops. Judging by the incoming rocks bigger than baseballs I doubt the Enews crew where concerned with sensationalising it by focusing solely on white cops.

And in the news all these animals continue to vote ANC
You vote for them? Live with them

What a thoughtful and insightful post, ive never seen you post something so intellectually stimulating before.

I've seen this on CNN, BBC, etc. Funny that, almost always white cops blasting away at the protesters.

But in any event, how much do you want to bet that come the elections that same mob will be voting ANC again, and then protesting yet again when the ANC ignores them. Some people never learn...

They were talking about more specialised forces incoming...then we'll see if its a fluke.

Its also possible that the camera crew was simply attached to an all white police crew.

Checked again this morning & the police force shown is now more "demographically representative".

Just rename Ermelo.

ANC voters are dumb enough to believe that if a city is renamed service delivery will happen.
That would be funny...if it didn't have a ring of truth about it.

Rename Ermelo to Noserviceswhattayagonnado

That should do it.

Oh, wait, we're gonna foot the bill for that
A tin of paint, a ladder and a few bucks to pay someone who can spell (or copy off crib notes). I'm sure taxpayers can foot that bill. Add some tenderpreneurs into the mix though and protests might be appropriate after all.
