Hope this post is in the right place
I have a wireless usb logitech mouse and keyboard. The mouse behaves erratically sometimes.. the cursor does not move smoothly but "jumps" around.
The mouse is very close to USB port I use and one of my 2 monitors is between mouse and USB port (in case this is relevant).

What I have tried so far:
  • Uninstalled the mouse and re-installed
  • Tried using different USB port
  • Tried a different mouse/keyboard
  • Rebooted many, many times
Any ideas?

Your rattex has been spiked with meth?

Probably battery. I had the same a week or so ago. The light in the mouse was still on, so I didn't immediately think battery, but when I finally changed it the problem was gone.

Just a random stupid question.... have you checked the hole where the eye is for obstructions? If you have pets sometimes hair gets in there and a quick blow opens it up.

Mouse is dirty inside...clean it and it will stop jumping around. To test this by not using mouse sbd you will notice no jumping around.

Most likely is a battery that is just below threshold. Measuring the voltage inside the holder showed the voltage was now down to 1.1 V. Taking it out, the battery recovers very quickly to 1.2 V but wont hold its charge for even a few seconds.
Dirt and polish sticking to the bottom of the mouse is another one. You think you are moving the mouse smoothly but it is in fact "jumping".
Next would be mouse sensitivity. I had to adjust the sensitivity settings after the latest WIN 10 update.
Next would be to check that the battery makes good contact inside its holder and is not jumping loose when you move the mouse around, especially if you have the same habit as I do of picking up the mouse and placing it (banging it down) on the surface. A good clean mouse pad is still a good idea.

Then, the latest Win10 update did have an effect. Discovered a new driver update was behind that problem. The initial win 10 1903 download did not include the driver update, which followed a few days later.

Or it could be broken, had this before on my logitech portable wireless mouse. Even stripped it and cleaned sensor etc. No go.

If not the battery, or the hardware, then it is your software. Does your mouse have a profile switch or which exact Logitech is it?

Don't think I ever washed mine, scratching off the rollers usually was fine.

What surface is it on? Shiny wood for example can make it do this.
True, you might need a pad to provide a surface that the rubber ball could grip onto. unless you're using an optical mouse. But i highly suggest you use a pad still.

or maybe the mouse itself is defective.

so i found an interesting read that is related to your problem. it is true indeed that with a trackball mouse, even the smallest piece of dirt could obstruct its path. It says there that using either a LED or laser mouse will minimize – if not completely eliminate the hiccup. Just dont use the optical LED mouse on a surface that reflects light because it is counter-productive. you may read the whole mechanism here https://thewiredshopper.com/laser-vs-optical-led-mouse/

You forget, the mice of that era was so insensitive we needed large pads and developed strong arm muscles from gaming..... the shift to laser mouse was JARRING at first hahaha.

HAHAHA those were the days when you don't have to hit the gym to tone your arms :D
