Eskom electricity emergency

Come on guys, they are only 800 MW short. If we can just turn off 8 million light bulbs we will get through this!

This is going to be a long winter...

I just pity the okes that need to deal with this operationally. I know balancing supply & demand and keeping the frequency stable is a biatch and running a powerplant while knowing that it can't go down under any circumstances can't be fun either...

Eskom can be assured that at the price we pay for electricity we can't afford to waste it

However your lack of planning is not my concern

This is Africa, a powerplant can go down whenever. Responsible people will not be held accountable, idiotic excuses will be given, and ultimately the blame will be put on the public for using too much electricity.

Switch parliament off. Most are alseep and the others are turning it into a kindagarden.

Maybe hook some cables up to Malema and use the **** he talks as fuel!!!

A couple of units are down for planned maintenance ahead of the July peak demand. The one thing helping us at the moment are the platinum strikes - the demand from the mines there is 400MW down on what it would have been otherwise.

If the strike is settled by the time the July peak arrives then things should be really tight. Keep the laptop batteries charged.
