Eskom explains why load-shedding is back

Eh we didn't get the increas we wanted, we've done nothing with the money we've received besides payout massive bonuses and hire the most incompentent people we can find since 2008. Eish, so we load shed cause I need a new car.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, Eskom said: “The severe supply constraint being experienced has come about due to high levels of unplanned breakdowns that have exceeded the 10 500MW limit. The supply constraint is caused by, among others, five generating units that are unavailable due to boiler tube leaks.”

Refer to post 2, cause if they'd actually been using the money for maintenance like they said they wanted to in 2008, this wouldn't have happened. In fact we'd be at the 80% power generation instead of 69%. But I forget this is SA where 69% is like an A right?

So, they've known about this since the weekend:
Eskom said that due to the shortage of generating capacity from coal-fired generation, its pumped storage and Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) generators have also been used extensively since Saturday, which has led to a decline in dam levels and diesel tank levels.

And a new multi-billion rand plant has broken down:
“In addition, a conveyor belt supplying Medupi power station with coal failed on Saturday (12 October) resulting in low volumes of coal being supplied to the power station thus limiting the generating capacity to approximately half the station output.”

10,500MW - that's ~25% of the total capacity offline.
Insane.

It is same old bludgeon as it is ask for price increase time, happened last year and the year before ... , so expected.

future headline: Eskom to be fully decolonized within 5 years, government working with sangoma's to produce wireless electricity alternative partially based on the work of the socialist hero the late comrade Tesla.

And also, they have no more money to buy diesel. So they aren't able to run diesel generators at 100% anymore.

69% means you can get your LLB without any study time or you can become a medical doctor. You must just fit the correct BEE profile
