How is this still news?

WILL REMAIN SO WHILE THE AXE OF LOAD SHEDDING HANGS OVER OUR HEADS.

Very soon winter will arrive. What's to be done I wonder.

/Off to find 20L and 40L drums to manufacture "Konka's"

Suggestion for MyBB: as a change only report when Eskom do something right ....

Switch off all airconditioners in Milliwatt Park and Parliament until the non-crisis is over!

That is a start. In my home however, I refuse to switch off a thing if it impacts my comfort levels at home. **** em. I pay.

How can a grown human being be so self absorbed and short sighted as the people who are and were responsible for keeping Eskom running ?

I really am unable to grasp this. In my own experiences only toddlers have the ability to disregard all reason and logic in pursuit of pushing their own will, or the complete and utter inability to foresee beyond the present moment ?

Even a toddler learns when he/she is doing something wrong after the 50th time of getting a smack for doing something wrong.

This whole Eskom mess is becoming more and more like the plot of a badly written soap opera. It is always this person has a vendetta against this person, and so forth.

The whole lot of them are absolutely useless and incompetent. Yet the main goal of Eskom is to get rid of more whites. You would think the priority is fixing the f***ing power network.

I fear we are indeed heading for a national blackout, which will effectively destroy our economy (or what's left of it). Crisis situations call for immediate and effective response, yet all we hear are the same windbags vomiting the same garbage over and over............

Get your emergency preparations ready people. We are heading there very very quickly.

Genuine question here (possibly extremely noob).

Assuming we get to that point where a national blackout could occur, ie. demand exceeds supply. Surely they can just cut off a much larger chunk of the grid temporarily to at least keep it stable? Cities are split into many different zones - is it not possible to, say, cut off 80/90% of these as opposed to what usually is done during load-shedding?

So for Cape Town, instead of having the usual zones 1 and 3 off for 2.5 hours at a time. Can't they turn off zones 1-10 for 6 hours, or whatever is necessary? And then once things have been restabilised they can slowly reintroduce zones to the grid, even on a rotational basis if necessaruy (anti load-shedding)?

Anyone have any more knowledge about this to enlighten me...??
