Eskom increases load-shedding after 3 generating units break down

Eskom has announced that load-shedding will increase to stage 2 from 05:00 until 16:00.

During the early hours of Tuesday morning, the state-owned power utility issued a brief statement saying that this was due to the loss of three generation units last night.

I still don't buy it when we lose multiple units at the same time.

I know they are in a shoddy state and being run to the brink of failure, but there would still be randomness in the breakdowns. And specifically losing them in the early hours when load is probably the lowest it is going to be for the day.

To be honest with you he is far better than any of the other ministers. His weekly briefings are quite detailed and provide a lot of insight into what the state of the various initiatives are. He even goes into the detail of how they are managing certain engineering problems like partial load losses. Its easy to criticize but most of what's happening is not his fault, at least he is trying.

It could be as a result of shoddy workmanship, rocks mixed in with the coal, and or sabotage. What if all of that is just a cover story when the comrades are actually not delivery the coal which Eskom paid but instead sending them for export.

Nothing like getting paid twice.
