Eskom is doomed

It is not apartheid's fault. The rest of Africa is much worse off and they did not have apartheid.

You play in the hands of the capturers by blaming decades ago.

Many countries were utterly destroyed and fixed themselves in a short period.

When this country was handed over to the ANC it had functioning SOEs. It benefitted greatly from the freedom dividend. What is the first thing it did? it bought weapons and stole billions in the process. If you want to blame the apartheid government, blame them for handing power over to a 'freedom fighter' movement with its roots in Marxism.

Exactly this.

The argument can also easily be made that blacks were enjoying better living conditions under apartheid than their counterparts in Africa under freedom, hence we had to control our borders as so many wanted to immigrate into apartheid simply so they could get a job and something to eat.

Good so we are in agreement then, they lacked the foresight.

Its precisely because they had foresight that if the pig was to run the farm would cease to exist, hence they kept the pig in a cage, then the Americans came along and now the farmer is in the cage and the pig is running the farm into the ground so badly even his fellow pigs are starving.

And you just go back to the Afrikaners not educating the masses. This sh*t has been going on for 25 years.. It seems that it's not only the Afrikaner that didn't educate the masses.

After 20+ years of corruption and not getting what the ANC promised, the ANC is still in power because people vote for them. If you can't see that you're getting shafted after more than 2 decades of not getting what you were promised, it's not the Afrikaners fault for not educating you or your people. If you can't open your eyes after 2 decades, you'll never learn anything new.

My people and myself are well educated thank you very much,as for the blacks well it's a vicious cycle currently in the locations as far as poverty/lack of education goes.So yes it's easy to see why 25 years hasn't changed them together with a government that just wants to win votes so they can steal instead of one that actually wants to make the country great.

You see that is the problem, they're not pigs or animals. They are people and they could be educated before you let them run the farm.

Edit:I get the Animal farm ref btw. but regardless it holds true.

Does this not warrant putting them back in the cage for their own good so to speak?

What is that saying you can lead the horse to the water but you cannot...?

Love Animal Farm. But let me guess..."Racist book"?

We need Nuclear power

Saw the below video on "mini-nuclear reactors" the other day, and how some companies are looking to build cheaper, safer and easier to deploy Nuclear power stations.

I'd much prefer to see SA embrace renewable energy, but something like this could in theory work alongside renewables to replace coal.

They did things perfectly, their people were flourishing, the rest of the world just wasn't happy about it.

And now their own kids are suffering this country because they didn't raise enough middle class blacks before hand over, surely they didn't think apartheid could continue forever, history could have taught them that.

I also like the idea, but havent you heard....Nuclear bad.

Some people believe an entire city can work from a wind farm.

Personally this guy sums it up nicely:

So you blame them for the current suffering? Not the dungeon masters at the ANC?

I blame both, the fact is they had an opportunity to stop this and they didn't take that opportunity, they we're deluded enough to think that apartheid could continue forever, you can't keep people down/oppressed forever.

And yes the ANC is not faultless either, instead of making priority number 1 educating of the people they made eating freely priority number one.

What we need now though is somebody with enough balls to do what's needed without worrying about votes...I somehow can see from Cyril saying there will be no retrenchments at Eskom that he doesn't seem to be that somebody.

Is that apartheid fault too, maybe dem racists should have produced a more affirmative and self-confident black for after the transition? Always knew Verwoerd and them had a range of bantu education programs but throttled it to take away the dignity of the black people etcetera yadda yadda yadda I'm suddenly tired of this thread.

I don't think ANC has the competency to tackle serious problems...
Actually they know exactly what needs to be done in the case of Eskom. But it would mean going against their partners outside the party and the opposing faction in the ANC as well as staring down the unions.

We cannot run a company so let our customers suffer by making them pay more. The South African way.
Sounds like pretty standard capitalism.

It is not apartheid's fault. The rest of Africa is much worse off and they did not have apartheid.
Well Africa's history is complicated. There were definitely plenty of outside forces more than happy to keep it in conflict.

You play in the hands of the capturers by blaming decades ago.
They certainly played a role. That sort of thing doesn't just go away. The ANC have of course squandered a big chunk of the last 25 years.

As I recall one of the first things they did was get South Africa out from under the debt with which the dumb whites previously in charge had saddled the country. Various organisations and government departments were overhauled to provide efficient, quality service.

And by your argument the country should never have been handed over to the Afrikaners. The British should have maintained control. I'd agree with that.

Strange for pigs to be worrying about pigs running the farm.
