It does open the door for more government control later on. I hope they make it opt-in.This is not a solution at all. Only in mad socialist states are restrictions on people seen as solutions to socialist catastrophes.
As if government control is not a thing right now and can never be a thing if you don't opt in, do you people ever pause to listen to the things you say?It does open the door for more government control later on. I hope they make it opt-in.
I don't need the gov to control my use of electricity. I solved it using my own funds.
So is the assumption that the area already has these metres ?Yes, this was announced a few weeks back. Smart metres will enable this to happen.
Might be some good deals then ? At a low price it still might be worth it.If this becomes wide spread the 1kw or smaller inverter market
Will have a lot of unwanted stock
Luckily it takes time to implement , giving them time to work down the inventory
If you bought yours long before this kicks in you may feel it has paid its due
Recent not so much
I assume so... its an incentive to get one of these. What of you don't have a smart meter? Then I guess you don't reap the benefits of load reduction and just get switched off?
It will depend on the price, not much of an incentive if you already have something that keeps your TV and lights on.I assume so... its an incentive to get one of these.
Personally Ill wait until they figure out the pricing and feedback support before changing anything.
Definitely. Just has to be cheaper than an entry level inverter setup. It will depend on the price, not much of an incentive if you already have something that keeps your TV and lights on.
With 1100W you can have the lights on, the TV, charge you phones and laptops and even get some space to use the washing machine, 1700W is even better.Going by JHB City Power info page LINK
It appears that they will have different max consumption limits depending on if your load limiting / load shedding slot falls within peak or off-peak time.
I don't know if this will be the same for Eskom direct
Peak Hours = Max 1100W
05:00 - 10:00
17:00 - 21:00
Off-peak hours = Max 1700W
10:00 - 17:00
21:00 = 05:00

These limits would only be applicable during load-shedding hours, correct?
Jup, at least that's how they are saying it will work. These limits would only be applicable during load-shedding hours, correct?

Until it stops working, same like the geyser ripple controls they used. Then you stuffed. These limits would only be applicable during load-shedding hours, correct?
