Eskom price increase confirmed

Sorry to say....this is not the country's population paying for this monumental f-up. It is a percentage of the country's population. And of that percentage, I know many monkeypalities will implement the price increase, but do not pay ESKOM so where is the money going?

My bad, I should have said only the paying portion.

Sad thing is their are already so many people living on the breadline and this will push them into further debt.

Thanks ANC

The day is coming when most people will produce their own electricity .( solar or what ever )
The problem is most of the people that will produce their own electricity will be the middle higher income people .
Eskom will be up the creek with out a paddle , then the taxpayer will pay .
I see nothing but doom and gloom in this Eskom debacle .
The electricity consumer is already subsidizing electricity theft now they are subsidizing downright incompetence .

The Taxpayer is already paying, look at how many bailouts Eskom has had.

Quick question about prepaid electricity. I know there are different brackets that you fall into which effect how much you pay per Unit. Is that based on Monthly usage or how many Units you buy over a given period?

I want to buy more units than usual before the price increase to save over the next few months, but dont want to do that if the sudden increase in unit purchases is going to push me into the next bracket, making my R/unit expense increase. If that makes sense.

I essentially want to buy a few months' prepaid units in advance.

Eskom wants our electricity use to drop to pre-2008 crisis levels while getting more monies. Solution? "Thank you for continuing to use electricity sparingly" and "Eskom gets 15% tariff hike".

The nersa rule says the sliding scale is on a month to month basis. So if you buy a few months worth you will pay the highest rate.

The few people that pay for electricity will again be penalised for being legal? What country operates like this? This is democracy?

Why on earth would employees fund a company's expansion out of their salaries?

Normally any worthwhile company use profits to expand their business but we all know that eskom due to ANC cadre corruption, theft and just downright ineptitude wasted all the funds available so there is no other way to get out of shirt other than to exploit the middle class consumers for basic infrastructures that other governments the world over fund through normal taxation, but even those tax funds are diluted to nothing so we have petrol increases, e-tolls, power, water and many other crazy increases to milk middle class us as the poor won't pay, they get it for free in the suburbs and taxis do not pay for e-tolls, etc.
