Truth is your hero is a liar and a charlatan. If he knew he had set such great plans in place to deal with loadshedding why was he so surprised when things started improving?

Eskom's "miraculous" recovery is purely down to lower demand due to businesses and home owners switching to Solar. Eskom and their ANC cadres like to write their own reviews but its all BS.
 
Follow the money.... who was coining it during loadshedding? That whole corrupt clan of ANC cadres with their oil and coal contracts are now out on their assess, so now all of a sudden the political will is there make it work. You can't get the bribes if you can't make the laws or award the tenders.
 
The lack of Loadshedding today has everything to do with the improved "unplanned maintenance" number Eskom provides to the public.

For several years (some of it while ADR was the CEO) Eskom was doing maintenance on its infrastructure. You'd notice that the unplanned maintenance number used to be anything between 14000 and 17000MW. Today, it's around 10000MW or thereabouts.

I've been saying, if only they could bring their unplanned maintenance down, we wouldn't have Loadshedding. It seems we are there now?

It goes without saying then that over the last couple of years Eskom has done enough maintenance to add around 5000MW of capacity.
Whoever was responsible for bringing that to fruition saved the day.

Seems we had to struggle first with around 18 months of ongoing loadshedding, for the unplanned maintenance program to be done.

Or what say you.

Eskom generating capacity has very obviously improved. Nobody can deny this. Eskom should indeed be patting itself on the back.

This is the new flavour of "it will all collapse after the elections". Come on man. Any excuse not to acknowledge the improvement.

We all know demand reduction played a part, but it's definitely, and very obviously, not even close to the whole story.

Yup, somehow people seem to believe that there is magically 5GW of solar out there, yet tend to forget that it doesn't work at night. Sure demand is down, but at peak it's only dropped maybe 2GW from last year, which isn't thanks to solar it's more than likely businesses closing up, people having switched to more energy effiencies, demand drop during the day would only really help sort out backup power, not really the power stations.
