Eskom pulls services from Orlando East after attacks

Eskom has temporarily withdrawn its services in Orlando East in Soweto after violent attacks and damage cause to Eskom vehicles on Thursday.

"Our employees were conducting disconnections for non-payment in the area when they were attacked by violent members of the community who in the process, also damaged our vehicles," the utility stated.

"The Safety of Eskom employees remains a major concern at this stage, and the matter has been reported to the police for further investigation," said Eskom senior manager for customers services in Gauteng Daphne Mokwena.

So what they are actually saying is that the violent attacks won and the illegal connections can stay until it is safe to disconnect? Why is this news?

Chickens have come home to roost... It is the ANC who created this culture of non payment and violence.
Nah the chickens have been slaughtered at KFC already, the ANC will gain by sticking to their promise of free electricity, ANC cadres are the ones responsible for the violenece and resulting in the continuation of free electricity.

pulls services? so they no longer disconnecting?

I think its just the same as always:

  1. Eskom attempts to disconnect illigal connections
  2. ANC people get violent, promted by the ANC
  3. Eskom retreats and "disconnects services" and illegal connections stay
  4. ANC takes credit for free electricity

Pull services? Like switch the whole area off? I hope that is what they did.
Pull services like no longer service the place, switching the whole area off isn't going to be done because of the way the network infrastructure is designed, switching off locally will just be a waste of time.

It will be frequent and extended load reduction for them until they get the message, it's the best solution Eskom can come up with that strikes some sort of balance in dealing with non paying customers while acknowledging some customers are victims of circumstances.

I have only heard of Eskom trying load reduction for non-payment once, and that was in Soweto, it did not work because people protested violently. Where do you get your info from that Eskom will do load reduction to this area? No mah bro, they tried that already and failed, you talking out of ur arse again. Stop defending the corrupt.

You are seriously misinformed, there is a regular load reduction schedule for areas where Eskom does load reduction, try talking less when you know very little, you can thank me later.

Then show me this "regular load reduction schedule for non-paying areas"? I am waiting....

Also show me where you see that Eskom said that they will implement their "regular load reduction schedule for non-paying areas" for this case?

In other words, peaceful protests be damned! If you want to continue having illegal connections, then the way is to become violent and destructive!
Oh, I forgot, this is SA and the rule of law means absolutely buckshi*.

ANC government instructing Eskom to leave illegal connections in place has been happening regularly since 1995.

I am still waiting, hopefully this is not another case of you making **** up in order to defend your corrupt man handlers.
