Eskom stage 2 load-shedding continues

Wtf `planned` maintenance. If it was planned why the power cuts all the time? It might be maintenance but definitely not planned

It is planned maintenance but that's not what causes the load shedding. That's caused by all the other stuff failing due to just failing due to being old, not previously kept maintained or renewed.

930Mw is in maintenance thanks to Koeberg, 1500 is in maintenance thanks to Camden. Camden was supposed to come online in July now projected to September, Koeberg is refueling so that's 2 to 3 months.

It's not that hard to understand. Planned maintenance are power units they planned to take off the grid for regular upkeep. Unplanned are breakdowns and other problems that are not planned for.

It's like servicing your car. You have your yearly routine for services, and unplanned breakdowns.

Eskom does not have a lot of capacity in reserve, hence the regular power cuts when more than their planned units go off-line.

Currently it's 16 000Mw down, there is constantly 9500Mw down all the time. That's where the spare capacity was supposed to be in :(

I'm not surprised they don't have enough reserve when a quarter of their capacity is offline. Why can't they fix the quarter that's broken, then they will have the reserve to do proper maintenance on the other 3/4. It's not rocket science, well maybe it is to eskom.

Exactly, it's like they're aiming for 9500 to be offline so they can cry crisis.

Yeah, they broke it and the monitoring systems that were in place, now they don't have the cash to order the custom parts needed to fix it. Nevermind finishing the new ones and retrofitting stations to comply with air standards. It's a complete circus shitshow. There's no coming back from this.
 
My area in Pretoria didn’t go off at 7pm per the schedule. Anyone else experience the same?

I think the loadshedding was not as bad, I have also missed a couple schedules, in fact I've only had one loadshedding since this round started a couple of weeks ago.

I had 3 in July, the first one was for 7 hours thanks to a tripped switch. Now if we go off at 9am this will be my first one in a month so will see.
We missed last week's ones by the hair of my chin.
